how do you spell this type of wood? it is the burl wood that starts with an A and here is my try Abonya ????? Can some one help me?
It is dark brown. if that helps

No.
It will have to cored with a hardwood.

Amboyna is very pretty, but has very little strength. So you either just use it for points, butt sleeves and inlays or you core it and glue a hardwood dowel inside of it to give it some strength as mentioned above.

It's not realy a soft wood, but it is unstable and likely to warp or crack. The same is true for burls of most any wood.
