Wor$$$t Tournament Experience

Many Moons ago our local Pool Newspaper advertised a Saturday 9 Ball Tournment. Ad copy read 7's and under, $200.00 add. Sign up 1230P, start 1P. Nothing about minimum number of players.

So I drove cross town, got to ***** ******, at noon, at 12:50pm ish I asked this thing going? As I had not paid entry, and think 6 or 8 were in place. Then I asked you still adding $200.00, answer was like they could not with few players. Thought self this is BS advertising my bar.

I hung around to 1:15p, left and never went back. This was their 3rd. Strike.

I called a foul on Nick when he double hit the cue ball on a 1-9 combo and the crowd went crazy. They were screaming for my blood! Those were the days (mid 80's). The place was packed to the rafters, a full house, maybe five or six hundred people in one small arena. Nobody ever left during a match either. They were glued to their seats. I loved working those events. There was always dead silence on a an important shot. You could hear a pin drop. But after the shot was made the crowd would go wild. That was real pool and the people/fans loved it. I'm so glad I was part of that era. The 70's to the 90's was a hey day for pro pool tournaments in this country. I'd still rather go to a good poolroom tournament then one of these made for TV exhibitions.

I agree completely-I was blessed to be around/playing during that era/timeframe-things were real and good-pool is soft now!
 
Parica said they gave his the ring and $6,500, not the 25K & ring, he posted that in one of Jenn Annes/Ms Mcreadys FB posts.
