I is Mika Immonen and E is Thomas Engert.

I wins lag, E breaks only passably. I makes long 1 ball but has no shot. plays safe and beats E to the shot, but runs out of shape again, plays safe, and beats E to shot once again, and runs rack. I hits break shot well, but freaky kiss causes a scratch, giving E an unearned chance.

E runs first rack easily, but in second rack, runs into the break ball while pocketing thirteenth ball of rack, and is fortunate not to lose pattern. Gets out and breaks next rack, which is squeaky clean. In next one, E loses his pattern after running into the break ball and key ball while pocketin the eleventh ball of the rack, ending up with a very tricky out. Has to play tough two rail shape onto break ball and hits it beautifully, to keep the run going. A dead six ball out of the pack makes the next rack relatively simple, but E runs out of shape twice, recovering each time to keep the run alive. Makes next break shot, but has to negotiate a tricky five in the side, and hits it well. Combosin the ten ball in mid-rack, the key shot in the rack, and gets out, so the run is at 84. the next rack is a major struggle, but a long break shot in mid rack on the thirteen ball sets up the runout, so the run is at 98. The break shot doesn't leave anything but a long seven ball bridging over a ball, and E misses, so he runs 99, and now leads 98-13.

I overcomes a postion error by making a combo, but can't get control of the table. Misses and scratches on an eleven ball, but the only loose ball is in the kitchen, so E cahn't shoot it. E opts for a backscratch. I beats E to the shot, but while trying to cut in avery thin break shot, andother ball kisses out the object ball. Hoenstly, this is one of the worst rolls I've ever seen in a straight pool event, and I was very demonstrative, though not unsportsmanlike, in his disgust. E runs the rest of the rack fr a 106-16 lead.

Three seemingly effortless runouts bring it to 148-16. E runs out of shape after the next brak shot, running fifty-something, and walking away with a 150-16 lead.

I runs just a four after running out of position and missing a bank on the four ball, and E clears for 158-20. E runs the next three racks to win the match 200-20.

Engert played well, but luck had a lot to do with this result, as Engert got a few opportunities through what seemed to be divine intervention.

So Engert will play the winner of Hohmann vs Eberle for the title.

We must all realize that SJM's fabulous commentary is perhaps a little biased due to the large wager with lewdo :) :) (well assuming the wager is 16 oz. rather than 12 oz.). He's starting to feel the heat.

Engert is definitely a shotmaker. We'll see how SJM's horse does in the next match.

Dang, I wish I was there.

Thanks for the commentary SJM !!

My picks for the title were Mika, Engert and Hohmann. Now that only Eberle, Engert and Hohmann remain, I wouldn't mind if Eberle would lift the trophy. Just not happy that Mika lost... :(

Here's the bad roll that really took Mika right out of the match. with Engert ahead about 95-16. There's no way to remember an entire straight pool layout, but I'll offer it to the best of memory to give yout gist of it. Immonen plays an extremely thin cut break shot and hits it well but it travels slowly toward the pocket because of the thinness of the cut. The ball is headed for the pocket when the brutal double kiss shown below cost him the shot.
