World 3C Championship- preliminary results

Let us not forget how difficult and frustrating this game can be. You can be the #1 rated player in the whole wide world. But if you can't get the "feel" of the table, and you are repeatedly left with undesirable shot after undesirable shot, and you miss shots by paper thin margins. Then shite happens. Regardless of who you are.

Dong Koong Kang in group L averaged over 2.600, had one game with 40 pts in 7 innings (over 5.000!!) and still came in 2nd. Ouch!

Averages are very low so far. Are they playing a lot of diffense with the 40 second shot clock?

And the winner is?

How large was the audience crowd, anyone knows?

I attended on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the arena was 3/4ths full during the day and fuller in the evening.

On Sunday, every seat was taken. The arena sat app. 2500 as it was configured for the event. (The Lotto arena can sit 5,000 to 8,000 for different events, but the billiards shut off some of the seating to have a stage and create a smaller venue).

Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable crowd. A pleasure to watch in such a place. Most fascinating was the sound of the crowd as it moaned a close miss.

The crowd strongly supported all the Belgium players, as was expected.

Most players made their shots in the 20 to 25 second range. Many, if not most, games were played without a player taking a time out (an extension). I did not see any player exceed the time limit.

Wow!!! That's great.. Must be a record in term of attendance!

Blomdahl averaged less than one and ranked third in the group... What happened people?
I talked to him about that. The balls were rolling badly. He said that in Greece, where he just set the high grand average for a tournament (2.7something), every shot was a natural. If there was a better side to land on the second object ball, that's the side the cue ball hit. The opposite seemed to be true in Antwerp.
