World Cup of Pool

Taiwan 3-2
Rack 5 is turning point. Taiwan showed they have much better safety game. they are rolling

Johnny is on the record as saying this tourney is very dear to his heart, for his son Lee, and he'll play it every year he can swing a stick. He's got a tough balancing act figuring out his global schedule.

WIth a 1st place 60K money prize, I'm sure its very dear to his heart..

This match has been a real stinker. How could JL Chang and Ko Pin Yi show so little form? These are two of the best fifteen players in the world. I was shocked that they were only seeded 7th, but it sure looks like the seeding guys got it right.

Perhaps Russia vs Hong Kong was as sloppy a match as this one, but this is pretty tough to watch.

Haha
Finally Taiwan finally on bill
They must have been laughing and joking too much cos the last 2 racks were just ridiculous and comedy of errors
Chang missed a 9 . Ko scratched in next game

That annoying 10 second warning must have thrown the Australian off while he was about to shoot.
The Greeks are off to blazing start, 3 games to zip...

well the 2 guys are amateurs and facing some international experienced players. i dont know how serious they take it but pressure might be high. they both missed shots that just shouldve gone in.

but hey, its part of the drama...

italy vs spain should be an even match, spanish players have had very good results on the eurotour, like the italians too.

Italy vs Spain should be close. Juan Carlos Esposito showed solid form at the Rio in July, so it won't surprise me if he plays well. Alcaide is a proven killer, a Eurotour superstar and a former runnerup at the US Open 10-ball event.

Petroni and Muratore are solid and should put up a tough fight, but I'm giving a slight edge to Spain in this one.

Bring it on!

nick looks like one of the actors from 300 lol.
Haha. The 300 referred to in the movie are 300 Spartans from place Sparta in ancient Greece.
Anyway the relatives of the Spartans, the Greeks just whitewashed Australia 7-0
First whitewash of the tournament.

I love a dogfight without clear favorite. This is shaping up to be Italy-Spain football match except number of people watching this is a small tiny fraction

italy looks very solid for now, take no risk, good safetyplay, nothing spectecular but it works

Quite entertaining and well-played to this point. A couple of scattered mistakes but lots of impressive shots, too.

Nobody really stringing racks in this event, and the illegal break rule is certainly part of the reason.

Italy impressively turns Alcaide's miss of the five in the side into two racks so far. The Italians are putting on quite a show and deservedly lead 4-2.

LOL, sounds like way the Italian football team plays also

5-2 now and Italy running away.
My goodness how long has this old man Petroni been playing. He is like Larry King and seems to be around for ages already
