World Cup

UNPRODUCTIVE?? So is it better to become complacent and just "accept things the way they are" ?? I'm sorry but that is for the weak minded that fear change. Bottom line is the USBA needs some major changes if we want to become a player in the billiards WORLD. But maybe I am wrong? Maybe we should be happy with the 500 - 600 members or so with only a handful of them that can really play the game. Maybe we're all happy with making a few billiards here and there and just talking about how great the Koreans and Europeans are instead of rising up and working to get OTHERS talk about how great WE are?!?! ANYBODY with a love and devotion for billiards can learn to play better with the right instruction. More exposure equals more instruction.

Yes, it does go through the USBA.

If you want to blame someone for setting him up for failure, then blame me. To accomplish this, I went over the previous three Las Vegas WorldCups with Mr. Scalas and pointed out to him the total expenses of a WorldCup (about $120,000 each), the difficulty of getting sponsors, the time line usually required for hotel contracts, the large number of volunteers needed, the expense and effort to support that help, and everything else I could think of during a day-long visit to his room at the end of October.

After this visit, I reported to the USBA that I thought that Mr. Scalas could make the event succeed based on what he had accomplished with his room, his insistence that the problems I pointed out would be solved in time, and the contacts he has in the Las Vegas area.

I also contacted two table manufacturers who made offers including modest (compared to $100k) levels of sponsorship. I also prepared about $30,000 in "angel funding" by contacting people who are willing to donate to tournaments like this.

What do you feel I should have done instead?

Dieckman>-------MY FRIEND BOB.........in the future please try to remember the immortal words of HANK THE DEUCE: "Never explain, never complaign, just get even !!" :grin-square::eek::grin:

Legitimate criticism and suggestions...ABSOLUTELY!

Internal pissing matches...UNCOOL!

Name one successful organization, be it business or fraternal where board members engage in this type of OPEN infighting. This crap should be taken off-board. VERY unprofessional.

Let not forget this thread was started to let those that read AZBilliards Carom Billiard section of this forum. Awared ofthe UMB World Cup Cancelation. Nothing more or Nothing less.

TJDave. If the USBA were more open [ keeping its member better updated, on what really is been done.] Its ashame this forum has more info than USBA Forum. But then look how hard it's to get to USBA Forum. Which was one thing The USBA were suppose to change to let the public read their forum as AZBilliard is. NOT DONE YET!!!!!!!

worldcup

As far as I know Bob Jewett is one of the most respected people in the 3C'S and pool world. When he washed his hands with not dealing with Mr.Ermanno I thought the World Cup wouldn't come off. Also Bob Jewett has put his own money up to sponsor 3 other world Cups in LasVegas and put serious money up for Straight Pool Challenge in D.C.C. for years.Mr.Jewett would also put up serious money for the World Cup, but he knew Mr.Ermanno was someone he couldn't deal with. Bob you are the only one who could get it done,so in closing Bob always puts his money where his mouth is. Bob keep on helping promote 3C'S we need you. Thanks FastEddieF.

True, billiardshot. And I need a webmaster to fix it up which will cost several thousand dollars. That's why it's not fixed yet. Do you want to lend me a few thousand?

TJ Dave: Just curious, where is all the in-fighting between Board members on this forum? There is fighting, but not between Board Members.

Now why would I want to Lend Money -To what should of been done in the First Place, when the Forum was created. Miscalculation on the original startup of forum. But then its were suppose to be for members only or Free Registration require http://www.usba.net/forum/login.asp?target=default.asp AZBilliards Forum just fine.

I support where I see Best- sometime I'm wrong.

You are correct. The webmaster screwed up in the first place.

TJ Dave:

The first thread has posts by myself and ZenSteve from the Board of Directors. Steve and I are not arguing on that post. Every other poster is either a USBA Member or a USBA non-member, but no other Board Members.

The 2nd thread has myself and Henry Ugartechea from the Board. Henry is sticking up for me. Everyone else is NOT a Board Member, including Mr. Scalas.

All, I see from those posts are awareness and opinions.

TJDave, may I ask are you a USBA Member or NonMember?

As for me I'm USBA #1 NonMember.

But you have my permit. To ask Jim Shovak, Mi_Billiards, Paul Frankel, and others How you can support Carom Billiards as the RatF@@KER does.

Or Maybe as these Players do. monkey do.jpg
Remember it, Just a Game and
That All!!!
