World Pool Championship 2006-Outright

If those top two players are worthy of their status then they will qualify for the IPT next year by either replacing the 50+ dropping their places, or by qualifying for one of the opens, doing very well and thus qualifying next year via money rankings.

Anyway the majority of those 32 players are on the IPT.

I don't get why Chamat is ranked as a better player than Ortmann, given Oliver's record and the fact he nearly won all three divisions of the Euro championships they just held.

If I should make a guess, I would say that the guys at Stan James have probably looked at Chamats results in the last three-four WPC, he has a pretty impressive run in these tournaments - better than Oliver I think.

But I agree, Ortrmann has started to look like himself lately - probably started training more seriously for the IPT.

One word: qualifiers

Anybody who wants a shot at the IPT, needs to get in the qualifier and win it...period. No excuses and no B.S.! If they feel they are good enough to have a chance at it, they'll apply. I'm getting tired of people saying, "Such and such didn't get chosen...". WTF! KT has a system to try and give as many people a chance at this thing as possible.

Find the closest location, go play, do your best, and let the chips fall as they may. Continue to do this until the end of the season, and if that doesn't work, go for the 2007 tour qualifiers. I'm getting tired of all of this damn whining!!! I respect Wu, for going against the grain and taking a chance at it. I hope he'll still be able to play in the WPC events or whatever it's called. Not everyone is going to make it, but eventually they might.

I think pooladdict nailed it, Chamat has a past history of going very deep and making the late stages alot. I personally, will be making a small wager on Oliver just because of the good odds and his recent form which has been mighty impressive.

Man, I don't know who the odds-makers are but I'm looking at the Zurich Classic Of New Orleans-Outright (golf tournament) and they have Phil at 16/1 and they have Joe Durant at 5/1 and Goosen at 10/3. Aaron Baddely is at 14/1 - still better than Phil. I realize that they're probably trying to factor each player's strengths and the particular course that's being played, but I apparently have a lot to learn about how odds are calculated.

Just thought I'd mention that as far as I know there's still a date clash with the WPC and IPT ( think Uk event?), According to Matchroom the WPC dates are set in stone so anyone know if IPT are moving dates, its gone very quite on this topic?

I think there's only a 1-2 day clash but given the international date line loss of a day during flights this could mean the top 8-16 IPT finishes would miss WPC. Don't think anyone would want to see that?

Where are you getting your odds? I looked them up and Michelson was the favorite 4.5-1, Goosen 9-1, Baddely 14-1 and Durant 126-1 before play began. Your odds were based on the second round completion I believe and since Durant is leading he moved to the favorite, Goosen tied for 3rd, Baddely tied for 10th and Michelson is 7 strokes off the lead.

Oh okay. For some reason I thought that was a tournament that was upcoming. I didn't realize it was in progress. That makes sense now.

Wu and Yang are great players, however this year the WPC tournament is in the Phillipines and not Taiwan.I really think the home environment helped the Chinese Taipai players.Ranking them number 1 and 2 away from home has me wondering.Only time will tell.Personally, I think someone from the Phillipines is going to be inspired to win it.

they should have got off the bench like the others and already be part of the IPT....can only blame their own ignorance or stupidty...assuming the IPT is a success.........

IPT tours not only clashes with WPC (Philippines) but also Bali Open, Asian 9-ball Championship (Indonesia), Super Cup (Taiwan) and ASIAN Games (Qatar), not to mention "No any IPT Qualifier and Championship in Taiwan and Philippines". So....who is ignorant and stupid? Only I can say is most Asian players (except Filipinos and some Japanese players from JBC) will disagree with you.
