WORLD POOL CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 June2021) Champion $50K

After yesterday I thought it Albin's to lose. If anything this particular event has shown that Albin can grind out wins.

David runs out off of an unusually poor Albin safety and we're at 5-3 favor of Albin, with David to break. One senses that David needs to do something with the gift he just got from Albin.

David breaks wet in Rack 9 but, with no good shot on the one, he plays safe, and only passably at that, leaving Albin a cross side bank. Albin hits it beautifully and it looked like it would lead to a runout, but Albin missed the shape onto the five and had to kick. He, shockingly, misses the five ball completely on his kick and David takes ball i hand and runs out to pull within 5-4. Strange match so far. Albin has been brilliant in executing the offense, but absolutely awful in the defense/kicking portion of the game, and a blowout that looked like it might be in the cards sits at 5-4 favor of Albin.

David's scratch o the break costs him rack 10, and Albin takes a 6-4 lead.

Rack 11 is a strange one. Albin breaks wet, but he misses the one ball by a mile, rescued by a fluke safety. David tries a crazy difficult jump and isn't up to making the one, and Albin is back in business. He opts for a safety on the three ball and butchers it, leaving David a long, but good look at the one ball, but David misses it. Albin runs out to win a rack in which he made two errors. Probably a big moment in the match, and Albin now leads 7-4.

Is there a free stream for today? Hope so. Tried to sign up and buy today's stream and was declined. Maybe it's too late. Go Oliver!

Only one Table today -No youtube-livestream.
(I think DAZN and SKY-Sports would be dissapointed if there was a free live stream)

Rack 12 is a dandy and Albin runs out a tough layout that requires tricky short side shape on the six. Now it's 8-4.

Rack 13 also features a superb runout by Albin in which he has to play difficult position, caroming off a ball to get from the five to the six at the other end of the table. His magnificent shot leads to 9-4 lead. The finish line is in sight.

In rack 14, Albin must play safe and does so superbly on the two ball. David's kick is good enough to extend the safety battle. Albin plays a poor return safe, but David makes a giant mistake, scratching off the two ball on a safety attempt, and Albin runs out with ball in hand to reach the hill, 10-4.

Albin, after a wet break, pushes out despite seeing the one ball, certainly a very sensible shot given the layout. David gives it back. Albin fails to snooker on his safety, but David's safety is even worse, as he sells out the one in the side. It's all over as Albin runs out for an 11-4 victory, advancing to the final.

It doesn't seem like long ago when Albin was #1 and everyone thought he was the best in major events.

Nice to see him finding his form again.

Here's some post match analysis, merely the way I saw the match, and if you feel differently, please chime in.

Albin is running the table superbly, playing great position consistently and not missing much. If the final is a shootout, it's hard to imagine him not lifting the trophy later today. That said, he is showing poor form in the moves game, and if the final is a more tactical affair in which chances have to be fought for, he'll be very beatable.

It would be hard to pick against Albin in the final. He's in solid form. Wishing him good luck in the final.

Matchroom delivers once again!

Emily just announced that the US Open 9-ball will be contested at Harrah's Resort in Atlantic City wit the dates being Sep 13-18. Works for me, I can get there by car in two hours.

If the Asians return for the US Open, it will be, in my view, the de facto world championship for 2021.

I’ve been saying we can’t keep having all major events in Vegas. It’s asking too much of eastern fans and competitors. Emily made it sound like this could be a permanent move, which suits me just fine. Pool and AC have a lot in common.

I don't like Albin but will admit hes a stone cold killer in these events.
Yeah, his complete lack of animation at the table makes him a bit boring to watch, but his pedigree as a player is undeniable. Nearly all the players play with at least some animation and personality, but Albin's robotic play can wear thin on this fan.

Yes great news... I may have to pry open my wallet to play in these major events before Matchroom comes through with having to earn your spot in the majors bracket...😳

Only way I'll be able to knock these things off my pool bucket list

Yes. If there are focusmeters, his reading will be highest of the Euros :D
He is big favorite to win now. But Oil winning will be great underdog story for pool. Go go Oli :ROFLMAO:
