World Pool Masters 06/16-18/06 - Who do you think will win?

Top four will be Engert, Souquet, Reyes, and Wu.

Winner is likely to be Souquet or Engert based on the strength of their play recently.

The name of the tournament tells you who will win. Effren. He is the master. He already won the IPT so he will do it again in this one.

I thought about O'Sullivan too but some of the field is really strong. Though I pull for Engert in every tournament, I like you pick in Wu. That kid plays really solid!

They meet eachother in the first round.
Off course I´m rooting for the Dutchies, Nick vd Berg is playing great, he reached the finals in the last Eurotour stop, Alex Lely has done it in ´99 allready.

Efren and Wu - my observations

Efren has to win over Soquet first in the 1st round. Of all the players in the field, he has the misfortune of playing against Ralph who seems to be his nemesis. For some reason, he almost always loses when playing against the German.

Wu has not been consistent at all after winning the 2 world championships. He did not even manage to snag an IPT card with his first 2 tries. In the recently held San Miguel Asian tour, he was not that impressive at all and did lose against supposedly lesser opponents. It was Ramil Gallego, a Filipino 2nd stringer, who won with wins against Yang and Chao in the finals. And this was in a field which included Efren, Busta, Manalo, Yang and Chao!!!

Round 1

Raj Hundal wins vs Hiroshi Takenaka
Rodney Morris loses vs Niels Feijen
Nick van den Berg loses vs Vilmos Foldes
Steve Davis loses vs Alex Pagulayan
Imran Majid loses vs Alex Lely (this one im doubting.. but i give lely the hometown advantage)
Ralf Souquet Loses vs Efren Reyes (aargh hard!! id have to go with efren)
Thomas Engert Wins vs Tony Drago
Ronnie O'Sullivan Wins vs Wu Chia-Ching (id love to say wu, and i might think he will win, BUT ronnie is my ALL time favorit player, and after seeing him in weert playing the finals vs ... immonen? or who was it , the kid can play :D u should see his brake!! funny to see a snookerplayer break.

last 8
Raj Hundal Loses over Niels Feijen
Vilmos Foldes Wins over Alex Pagulayan
Alex Lely Loses vs Efren Reyes
Thomas Engert Wins over ronnie

last4
Raj Hundal loses vs Vilmos Foldes
Efren Reyes loses vs Thomas Engert

final:
Vilmos Foldes vs Thomas Engert

and... ENGERT wins :D

ok thats my 2c :p i dont dare to bet on betandwin :p

I love your pick for the winner. I'm a huge Engert fan. If I had to pick the most likely outcome, this would be it with just a few minor tweaks.

You have Hundal losing to Niels Feijin and then playing Vilmos Foldes in the next round. Here's my switch.
1) Foldes loses to Pagaluyen and Hundal wins against Feijin.
2) Pagaluyan vs. Hundal (and this one could go either way).

Well I actually think Alex is a favorite to win ... I believe he is one of the strongest new starts of pool. Engert is a STRONG possible in anything. Reyes is not a given because 9 ball is not his strong game.
Id like to see Neils give it a go. This is a tuff call anyway you look at it -Ive never seen Ronnie hit 9 ball so I dont know.
If I had $100 on it (drum roll)........................ Engert v/s Alex = Engert
But one this is for sure - this is one tournament I wish I could see in person.

i dont think alex will arive in the semi's, (neither wil nvdb i think). even if he's a greath player, and hes practically playing in his backyard and have LOADS of fans rooting for him, he hasn't played Very greath in the last months. i havent seen anything spectacular in the eurotour or in the last european championships of them, but well just for my friend dave, and because we are neighbours ill cross my fingers for them, but i dont think they will arive very farr.

if i had to choose between paga or hundal, my vote would go for pagaluyan.

lets all make a personal top8 places finishes and see who comes closest :D

here's mine:

1: engert
2: Foldes
3: Efren
3: Hundal
5: Alex
5: Alex
5: Ronnie
5: Niels

Thanks for the support Solly!
Nick finished 2nd last Eurotour just a week ago, that's pretty good I'd say Niels finished 3/4. I wouldn't mind seeing any of the other players win either, they are all world class.

Here is my pick for the 8

1 Engert
2 Alex Pag
3 Niels
3 Reyes
5 Raj
5 Van den Berg
5 Lely
5 Wu

Thats my story and Im stickin to it!

I love your avatar, Double-Dave! Very expressive eyes! :)

My pick to win the event is Alex the Lion! I'm sure we'll be hearing his roar around the world as he enters the winner's circle! :D

Here's a snapshot of Alex taken at the recent U.S. Open, another title he added to his already impressive list of championship wins!
