So looks like on Friday via YouTube at 2:00 PM Eastern we will be able to watch these:

Friday 14th August 7.00pm
R1 – Van Boening (USA) v Morra (CAN)
R1 – Feijen (HOL) v TBC South America
R1 – Liu (CHN) v Boyes (ENG)

Not sure if the quality will be there for you tube but I hope so. Glad we at
Least have a chance to watch this time.

it's disappointing that Johann Chua was denied of a UK visa just a couple of week ago - he was supposed to participate. this year, the Philippines will not be represented in this invitational.

I completely agree. He's a great young talent and it's surprising that no pinoy is there considering that at one point it had bubwit and Carlo on the bill.

Only 16 players, is it invitational ONLY event? what am I missing, so many players missing, or is it like a qualifier thingy and most pro's didn't qualify for the event?

Invitational, free entry.

maybe everything(lodging/airflight) free too, not sure.

Imagine if Archer snaps this one off, everyone would stop complaining about his Fargo rating.

Any background on why the visa was denied? Do they always wait to the last second to apply for a Visa? Does Matchroom not sponsor work permits, etc?

Invitational
Race to 8
Winner break
Single elimination all rounds
No qualifier

Definitely not major event even though it has "World" in its name

Any one of 16 can win this cos it is single elimination
You have an off day or not feeling well, you are finished regardless that you are favorite
No second chances .

But this being matchroom event as usual is very well organised, excellent stream quality, cheap stream pricing
Players also like this cos they are guaranteed $2500 even if they lose 1st round
And no resurrection of eliminated players :grin-square:

The final 16 of the world's is the same exact way, but when people try to say the same things you just did as to why Shane hasn't won one yet, you go into Shane hater mode...

Since Shane won this last year, it's funny to see the hypocrisy spew forth from your keyboard.

Except the final 16 of the worlds are all players who won matchs in the group to qualify
This is more like the MC than a world championship

Did he really compare this "world" tournament to the final 16 of a world championship? Wow wow wow...
