World record for chalking

This is a real Chalking Professional!

He still lost that match. Someone else posted a video of him chalking like a madman too, I forget where. I have uploaded this one to youtube as well, Streamable expires them after a while, and I'm not sure how much longer it will last.

No, because some of the chalkings I am pretty sure were done outside of camera view, so if anything, we would have a too low of a count.

Between Earl with his weights and finger thingies, and Rafael's chalking habits, this is probably the most amusing overall match I have seen as far as player habits go. I would probably make a bad commentator because there is no way I would be able to talk about this match without sniggering.
That match had everything. At some point Earl relocated a weight he had apparently been wearing under his pants on his ankle to his right bicep - but only for his break shots. Then later on one rack he forgot to take it off and played that whole rack with it on. Jay & Danny were cracking up about it and so was I.

Aside from the chalking turette syndrome, Rafael carefully keeps his chalk in his shirt pocket when he’s sitting - like snooker players do in their vests.

So hilarious

I just like that saying and back when this was played there was lots of coke in the pool rooms everywhere.
I lived in Key West in the 1980's. There was lots of coke everywhere. But I don't do drugs, and never have. None of my friends do either. And it's even pretty rare when I have a drink. Different strokes, I guess.

As for chalk, I use it once every rack or two, whether I need it or not. ;)

Fats, on chalking. :D

Gods honest truth I’ve never done coke once in my life. If I did, I’d not lie about it. Truth is is scares the hell out of me. I’ve never seen it end well for anyone, and I don’t have the best heart-knowing that, I always just “Said no”.

I just like that saying and back when this was played there was lots of coke in the pool rooms everywhere. Lots of old matches you can notice how the players are hyper alert or jumpy or twitchy. Was a different time in pool.

Best
Fatboy <———not into apologetic or explaining why I say what I say. I speak the truth. Purity
I’m not a fan. Very Anti. As for chalk I just bought few pieces of Taom…. I must be on something

I wish people would realize how much chalk actually falls directly below their tip when they're using it, and not do it directly over the rails or the cloth. Playing on really clean equipment has me kind of spoiled. It's not such a big deal in a bar where everything is already filthy, but when I'm playing in my preferred spots it sometimes bothers me when people are messy with it. I like using the Taom on clean equipment, but it does sometimes leave little pieces on the cloth if people use it too close to the table.

So we have things like most racks run, best TPA, great shots. But some basics of the game like tip maintenance and chalking just don't have a good rating or tracking system.

I present to you my new stat for chalking, and the current world record holder. I counted about 45-50 chalkings of the tip before the first shot, with two different cubes of chalks and both hands being used.

One of the funniest things I have seen in a match, especially when you look at the shot he took after all that work and then went on with more dual handed chalkings. If Mel Brooks did a movie about pool, this would be a scene in it.

Never seen any player and certainly not a pro player chalk his cue with both hands before every shot!

In the '70's, Sopor's and Quaaludes was my thing.
I went to bars all over Birmingham and could barely walk, but won
WAY more than I lost.
I'm retired now and 68 years old, drink lots of beer and still profit
from the game. (down to 5 cues and use each randomly, makes no difference)!

No video, but a local player here in Sydney, Barry Mavros... Ha ha, just watched him yesterday at a local tournament and thought of this thread.
He is a known slow player.
But, in between shots there was one yesterday he must have chalked 30 times...

I showed some locals this thread, so we consider him the State Champion now.
Ha ha ha

Dr pepper does me good.

First shot of the match , Rafael on the rail shooting down, isn't that a double hit foul? The question was asked recently and Dr Dave put that video of shooting over another ball is a double hit

Slightly off topic....have you ever noticed Earl's ferrule? Half-way down there's the same type of blue chalk ring that you see on house cues in bars. Which means,IMHO, he's not very fastidious in his chalking and also he doesn't use new or near new chalk, as that ring only appears from using chalk with a deep hole.

The were a couple of decent shots made, too.
