Who is the current record holder of the highest run in 14.1?

All I remember was Willie Mosconi made till 526 in 1954.

You have good memory, that's the recognized record because there were witnesses. There are claims of higher runs, but none were witnessed from beginning to start.

Folks:

If you're talking about the modern-day high run (and not Willie's "asterisked" 526, which was done on an 8-foot table with recreationally-cut pockets), then that would have to be Thomas Engert's 491 on a Dynamic 9-footer with Artemis cushions and tournament-cut pockets. If my memory serves, I'd read that Thomas accomplished that feat during a 14.1 league match, and there were many witnesses for the whole run, start to finish.

When one of the current 14.1 pros tops 526 on an 8 foot table with recreational pockets, then you can put an Asterisk next to Willie's name and not a day before.

Sean - thanks for the great recommendation on a Dyson hand-held for my table. It works great! However, I have to agree with Dr9ball on this one. There's no asterisk in the record books next to Roger Maris' 61 home runs. :)

I think records in sports are, and always will be, imperfect measures. I think you have to take them for what they are worth.

Record in competition: Darren Appleton, 200

Record in exhibition: Willie Mosconi, 526

Record practice run: Babe Cranfield, 768
