World Straight Pool Updates from New Jersey

Ouschan over Immonen. Mika had a bad miss at 174-172 and Jasmin had to make a very tough eleven ball into the top corner at about 190 to run the match out. The corwd went nuts when she rose to the occasion and nailed it. Shame for Mika, who played well all week, but had one bad match and is out. Also, Bustamante came from behind to beat Harriman.

The quarterfinals are as follows:

Ouschan vs Ortmann and the winner will meet the winner of See vs Bustamante in the semis tomorrow

Feijen vs. Schmidt and the winner will meet the winner of Hohmann vs. VanDenBerg in the semis tomorrow

Feijen, who is playing like a world beater, looks the man to beat for the title right now, but anyone can beat anyone at this stage of the proceedings. It will be hard for the night session to produce the kind of drama that the day session did, but that's what I'm hoping for.

This is fun.
I would pay to see any one of those match-ups.

From Feijen's website: (I just love it that he post a update 15 mins before his match against Schmidt!!! That's how to threat your fans!)

He has played 2 matches against Chavez now, and his runs are 108, 72, 68 and 82... He is not a regular human being!!!

Just done vs Chavez. Big sets now, runs to 200! Missed two balls early on and Chavez took the lead with 50+-14. Got my chance and ran a 108. Missed a shot and Chavez fired back with a 68! So we were around 120 each. I took charge again and ran 72 but missed a shot. Thought the worst for a second but Chavez missed his 3rd shot and I ran out. John Schmidt in 15 min

Quick win for the last 16

Caught a nice gear this round

They had waxed the balls with Turtle wax for the first time. This confused me at practice cause you hardly have to hit the balls now and get great action. I missed a half masse shot for my first chance and Chavez only ran 10. I ran 68 from there and got frozez on a ball. Safety battle which I won and I ran out with 82! Only 70 minutes of play so that felt great. Tomorrow single elimination to 200 final 16 players
