world summit of pool

i saw in the inside pool magazine the world summit of pool scheduled for this week. nobody i know has heard about it and we are from new york. is this happening?
 
I thought it was postponed. Far as I know, this weekend is the NY 9 Ball Invitational at Skyline Billiards. A bunch of Pros have been invited...
 
The last information provided to the players via email was in mid-August stating that the promoters of the event were experiencing difficulty securing a host location that worked with ESPN2 timing/scheduling and the event was postponed until further information was available.

I'm sure there was another thread about this last week. Here is a copy of the e-mail Sherry mentioned. It was sent out by Frank Alvarez on August 16.

Dear Member,

I wanted to take a moment and fill you in on The World Summit of Pool dates. At this point in time the promoters of the event are experiencing difficulty in securing a host location that works with ESPN2 timing and scheduling. This means as of now we expect that the WSP will be postponed until further information is available.

I will let you know the moment I have further information. We are very sorry for the inconveniance. Thank you and I will see you a the U.S. Open.

This was sent out to all of the players a month in advance. As an alternative, the NY 9 Ball Invitational has some great players entered, I'd check it out if I was in the area.

we have to get you up this way Blackjack :D you are bound to be sweating to death down in Florida by now.......the cool winds are blowing around here finally.

I used to be Franks assistant with the UPA, i still help him out every so often...I recently spoke with him in Las Vegas to find out what the deal was because the UPA website had no dates...I said he needed to fix that website up....so when I asked him if he needed help this year that is what he told me.....almost makes me angry that so far it wont be held in NYC, unless it changes...but who knows....he doesn't like giving out too much info...
