I was playing in a tournament today and lose my first match after being up 4-1 in a race to 5,i shook the guys hand and was upset with myself.I go through the losers side not playing good at all and win a few matches and then play a cocky kid.We go back and forth a bit and its 3-3,i crack the 9 and I am on the hill.I end up winning the match and he shakes my hand and as he walks away he says "I just got beat by the worse player in the room.".I am taken by this comment and say "that is exactly what i want to hear",he says lets gamble and he will give me the 8,i tell him that he has no class and when you lose you should shake hands and just say nice game when you lose instead of crying like a little biatch.I am a pretty good sport win or lose,i wasnt playing well today but still beat the kid and he acted like punk.I was just wondering if you guys have had run-ins with poor sports like this?I dont usually especially since i am a very good sport and dont disrespect people but what gives. :confused:
 
This happens everywhere. When a player loses, they try to save face by "threatening" you with a gambling match. It's a tacky move, just to satisfy the guy's ego.

And btw, it's "worst."
 
You ran into a poor sport. Unfortunately it probably won't be the last time.
 
Wow, never ran into anything like that before. Sounds like a complete dickhead! I would have gambled him after the tournament.

I agree,he offered me the 8,i will go back in a few days and make him bet all he has giving me the 8 ball,thats fine with me,i just didnt bring enough money today and if i am going to get the nuts i am going to get as much money as i can out of it. :D
Oh and i thought it was worse,lol.:)
 
There seems to be a much higher concentration of these kids in Maricopa County. They just need to be humbled. One day they'll try their luck on the road and figure out that they need to play a little better than 7/8 speed to make a living on this game. I'm done gambling with all them. Too many $20 issues.

I played you last and knocked you out of the tournament tonight and I also saw that punk say that stuff to you. You handled it well bro cuz i would have punched that little punk in his nose if he said that to me. I played the same guy 2 weeks ago and he was losing and throwing his cue and crying like a little ***** the whole time we played and it threw me off a bit. Where im from people don't act like that. You played him good and I saw the whole match. Don't sweat it bro. The 9 ball break was the icing on the cake for you against him. After that he couldnt make a ball. Too bad that didnt work for you against me. But the 9 on the snap you got on me was sweet though.

Hey Drew,i havent seen you around,you got to get out and hit some balls with me.Yeah your right,since i moved here its all i have seen,alot of cocky kids with not enough game to back it up. :)
 
If you really want to humiliate him, bet a lot more than what he suggests. If he wants a $20 set, say $100 a set. If he wants a $50 set, say you want to play for $200, especially if you have the nuts with the 8 against him.

That'll put him in his place. Chances are, he'll back down and look more the fool. If he says he doesn't want to bet that high, tell him he's not worth your time and don't look back. Guys like that aren't worth a thing.

Thanks Steve and i agree,i intend to bet atleast a minimum of $100 a set against the guy,i want it to be an expensive lesson,not getting off easy for $20.

Hey Justin,yeah it was a fun playing you tonight,our performances were less then stellar but your going to have bad days.I agree i thought about giving him the 5 out in the parking lot but its not worth it and i have had enough trouble in the past.I will bring some cash and play him next time.How did you make out tonight by they way?,i know i got fourth so you were guaranteed atleast 3rd.

If he thinks you're the worst player in the room, and he's such hot sh*t, maybe you should woof a little and get more weight. Agree with him and say something like, "yea, I just got lucky. I may need the 6 or 7 just to get a chance with you." And if he won't do that, then take that 8 and shove it up his A. I've had some pretty good players who have been around say stuff like that to me. Not the worst player remark, but offering me the 7 or 8 and wanna bet something. If you wait about 20 minutes and then go ask them to play and give up that weight, they most generally will back down. Catch em' in front of a bunch of people and then ask them what happened to their Bal*s they had a few minutes ago. It's fun to watch em' backpeddle. But you did good with this one. Just bust him when you play.

Yeah I know I haven't been around lately. I've been performing in those tournaments over at Main Street though so I've been kinda hanging out down there. Last weekend was my birthday and I gave my bankroll to vegas so I have to start the rebuild.
 
I lost to that old dude Hector that plays like a 10 when he plays me. If he is an 8 that I am like a 6 cuz he broke and ran the 2nd rack and then finished the race with a 3 pack.Brutal !!!

Yeah they say Vegas was built on losers,it will get you.I have to check that place out sometime.

Yeah i have played him twice and lost,i was hill-hill with him and lost the one night and last week i took 3rd after losing to him for the hot seat and then went on to lose my next match,i played well all day last week but sat too long at the end. :cool:

Ok Brady you can be the worse player and i will be the 2nd worse player in the room,lol.Yeah i was suprised i got back in it with that match with you,but thats 9 ball in the short races.Justin did have hell of a break though didnt he?I will let you know about Main St.,i have never been there. :)
 
I guess since you won, now he is the worst player in the house. As soon as a guy starts throwing stuff like autopctech said he did a couple of weeks ago, he has no chance to win, unless you get intimidated, which I don't. I played in a VNEA tournament with all AA+ players and I was a B. One guy that I beat 4-0 who only got a shot or two and missed, stormed out after he lost. I knew I had him when before the match he was complaining to the league operator about me playing as a B-player.

I'm never happy when I lose, but insulting the guy that just kicked your butt isn't cool or smart. I usually go somewhere and practice after I lose an important match.
