Yes, this thread is sorta negative. But I feel you learn when you lose. It builds character. LOL
Yes, it was very disappointing when my team got second, but I am making a positive out of it. Take the loss, learn from it and move on. Yes, we all learned from the 2nd place. Like I said, we will be back next year. It was a great experience.

My worst tourney memories have nothing to do with the event itself.

1- APA nationals -- I am playing and IMO we win the match "when" I win.
During the match I had to stretch rather oddly and threw my back out. It hurt like a SOB and there was nothing I could do. I still tried to finish out the set. I left myself a little short on an eight ball. I made the difficult cut in the side but then watched as the cueball proceeded downtable and
drift 6 inches into the corner.
It was my fault becuase during the match a ref actually sent a guy over to repair the drift. I declined due to wanting to finish. I was scared that if we waited my back would get worse. Karma is a *****. I can still here and see the other team jumping up and hollaring for the cueball to scratch.
I felt really bad and still do for my teammates.

2- Playing "DaBarbr" in APA singles regionals the score is 74-73 his way with me breaking. We had something like 3 innings total until this time with both of us playing well. I break dry leaving the 1 and two both hung up in the top corner pockets. I needed two and he needed one.
That was to play in the finals which I felt I would win. "Dabarbr" won and then went on to win the National Title.
 
I always felt that losing double hill right before the money in the local weekly tournament was pretty brutal. Most of the times you are leaving at 2am and at least around here, the guys in the finals usually chop it up. One time in particular stands out. Its 2:05 am, double hill and I cut an 8 on the top short rail and go up and down twice to get position on the 9 near the bottom short rail. As the cueball is coming back down it hits a piece of chalk, changes direction and scratches.

I got $15. I hadnt even paid my tab and the two remaining players had cut up the 440 in the pot for 1st/2nd. I got home at 2:45, was asleep by 330 and woke up at 6:30 to try to go make my real money. I quit pool for a month after that one.
 
One time I took a 9ball pill, when I got called to the table, I found out it was a 1p tourney!:rotflmao1: :killingme: :rotflmao1:

Yes and if you watched the Reality Show the "Acadamy", The LASD had a Cancer Survivor Finish the LASD Acadamy. :D

As far as the Olympics' it is our amateurs, against many of the world countries sponsor, paid for, for and trained. Shall we say semi pro athletes.

Any tournament where I go 0-2 is nauseating and makes me feel like quitting pool, especially when my losses are due to my own nervousness.

Point was you mentioned a person with Cancer, and so did I. My person made it threw the LASD Acadamy, and is now working to serve the people of LA County in a High Risk Job, as a LA County Desputy.


I would think we like some of the same TV Shows.:wink:
