Would seeding players help pro pool?

Real simple Al... put a bounty on the top 16 for the first round....... Not only do you get bragging rights you get cold hard cash.... Lets say double your entry.. comes out of the pot of course at the end but there is the extra incentive... Give me SHANE first round!!!!!!!

How does that solve the issue? You can make the bonus $50K, it's not gonna change the amateurs chance of making it past the first round against a pro. If it's me, either I'd love to get SVB just to have had the chance to play him in a tournament, or I'm bummed because I have no chance and essentially am getting an immediate bye to the losers side (if it's double elimination). In either case a few bucks doesn't change anything.

I understand the pros want seeding, but it just isn't fair in an event open to amateurs. Frankly, I think amateur participation would greatly increase if they went to some sort of system where the bangers play on one chart and the pros in another until half of those in the money come from each group. Then there's a redraw to merge the two groups and let the slaughter begin. But at least the amateurs that get fed to the lions made the money.

Just spit-balling here. I'm sure there are valid arguments against this idea.

Of course the pot will be substantially reduced due to the "dead weight" being discarded.

Lesser ability players have the same expenses as a Pro Player does. Exclude them enuff times out of the Winners Circle and Pool in North America will go down hill.

Oh, sorry, guess that it has somewhat already. Add the flavor of the year to that, Rack Mechanicing and see where Pro Pool is at.

So lesser players come into a Tournament knowing that they will pay the same entry fee, and also chances are they will be eliminated
sooner due to Seeding. I would get tired of someone achieving their agenda on my money.

I believe that many have already. Don't you?

Funny that the only place in the World where it is happening at the moment is the USA.

Europe, PI, China etc, all seem to be doing ok.

Instead of figuring out ways to make pool grow and be better, always someone figuring out how to make it worse than it already is.

Comment not directed at the OPs question. Just in general.

Seeding works fine in the snooker world....and it's based on merit.
....completely fair.

...and the seeding is a two-way street if done well.
It guarantees that you don't meet a champion in the first round.

My ideal pro tournament would be a 96 field....with top 32 waiting in the second round.
The round of 64 get a warm up match before they meet a top player.

....and anybody can play their way into being a seeded player.
Steve Davis played in the qualifying rounds in the 1980 world snooker championship...
....by 1981, he was number one seed.
