First of all to those of you that voted, so far, thank you for taking part. Out of seventy-five voters, 89.33 % of you are in favor of paying $10 dollars a year for the promotion of the games of Pool, Billiards and Snooker.
That's a very high percentage. So it's obvious there is a demand for more exposure of these games.
Your question to me is, "How can this be done? And even more of a question is, how do we know we can trust you or anyone else for that matter?"
They are great questions. And they deserve an answer.
Some of the posters have already come up with some good suggestions.
More streaming is a great idea. Challenge matches is also a great way to go. How about we have a King of The Hill, challenge match, once a month, and the vewiers get to vote on who they want to play the next month. I'd also like to add more money to some of the more established tournaments, such as, Turning Stone, The Derby City Classic, The Reno Open, and of course The U.S. Open. Just to name a few. Probably double if not triple the amounts of monies added to these events.
This isn't a political way of bailing out the game. It's a fiscal idea that's highly feasible and affordable to each and every one of us. Like a lot of you, I'm paying a reasonable amount of money to play on various tours and different leagues and I don't begrudge these people anything I pay them. I just think we need to invest more into the promotion of the game and collectively it's a lot more affordable. I'm not trying to put people out of business. I'm trying to increase their business by bringing more people into the game.
I'm also going after room owners, cue makers, and anyone else making a living off of the game. I don't think it's outrageous to ask a room owner to pay five dollars per table in their room per year to help promote more people coming to their rooms. Or ask a cue maker to donate two dollars for each cue they sell over the course of a year. If we're bringing in more players they are going to sell more cues.
To the people that aren't interested in donating the money, I completely understand. Based on the things that have happened in the past in this game. I probably wouldn't trust me either or believe this was possible.
I just started the poll because I had to start somewhere. It may possibly never happen. But then again, it might.
I know I got the interest of a few of you posters. I'm also not crazy enough to think I could do this myself. I'll need a lot of help. I have some people in mind that I think are some of the most trusted people in the business and I want to talk to them about some of the ideas.
Thanks for the interest. If we need to make decisions on what and where to spend the money, we could always do what I did. Start a poll on AZ and let the people decide where the money is spent.
That's all I have for now. Thanks for listening.
