Wow!! Dominiak Custom Cues!!

I have liked his cues and part of the reason has been because I like no-wrap cues but I am in the minority. There is a bigger audience for cues with wraps. Some people consider no wrap cues almost a joke.

A wrapless cue gives me a sense of security when I hold it very loosely.

I love wrapless cues!!!!! :D

I am seriuoslly considering buying a 3/8 10 Dominator shaft. Love 12.80mm and 3/4" ferrule. Used to play with 314 and ended playing better with shafts from cue manufacturers.

We are all here because we like wrapless but count those cues in a poolroom (not the ones on the wall)

Now you do.

My friend bought a Dominiak WD1020 during all the hypes around here awhile ago. I'm no expert but I can feel the ferrule is not flushed to the wood. It is very awkward. He stopped using it (not due to the ferrule, though) because it's too butt heavy, even more so than a McDermott.

Your ferrule complaint is legit - I had the same problem with my wd1020. I just had it machined down by my local cue repair guy - 5minutes / 5bucks and it was good-to-go. I've had Muecci ferrules do the same thing. I don't know if it is the same type material or not. Dominiak's "Dominator d2" and "Dominiak HG" shafts use a better ferrule than the one on the wd1020. But they cost more too.

As far as the weight, just take the weight bolt out of the rear and cut about an inch off of it and screw it back in. (an inch is about 1/2 oz) easy fix!

The reason the wd1020 is such a good value is because it comes with a very good shaft. A good shaft has very straight grain and no grain run off. A friend of mine just recently bought a very nice well known custom cue (over $3,000) and the shaft had grain run-off in it - it was not real bad, but it should have never been mated with a cue like that. Dominiak produces all the maple himself. In other words he does not have to depend on other suppliers for maple. That means he can choose the best of the best maple from a production batch (producing his own maple also keeps the cost down on the cue - he produced maple for other cue makers - 20 years ago - before he started building cues). The shaft wood on that wd1020 is far superior to what you will find on most cues. That is why there is a lot of hype associated with that cue. It is well worth the money, but do have to agree that you should not have to fix the ferrule - maybe he will change it in future - I did let him know that I had a problem with the ferrule on my wd1020.

Cue Stock Inc. is the Dominiak maple stock producer - Dominiak owns both companies Cue Stock Inc and Dominiak Cues. for anyone who is interested.

i have a 1010 and no complaints, it has a D2 shaft some of you talking about the shafts need to realize there are 4 shafts he offers or has offered. There is the standard solid maple shaft, the old growth solid maple shaft the dominator which was the first laminated shaft he had and the D2 which has improvements over the original.
I like leather wraps.
And no i have no affiliation with Bill other than the fact that i have 2 of his cues (actually only 1, i traded the other)
IMHO best hitting cue out there, i get amazing action on the CB with minimal effort and i love the cue!

I recently just discovered an outstanding cue maker from up state New York named William Dominiak. He is the founder of his company "Dominiak Cues", and the founder of the Dominator II shaft. They are all hand made and hit like a dream.
The Dominator shafts are radial laminated and the wood goes through the ferrel and touches the back of tip. This enables you to become more one with the energy function transaction with your mind, muscle and the whole cue. In other words, it is very solid full felt hit. It hits a little like a predator except you can use no english better on certain shots and there is no compensation when aiming with inside english, its so easy.
The Dominator Shaft is the supreme upgraded next best thing out there. This product that this cue maker has is unbelievable. I highly recommend that these cues or shafts be given heavy attention, go out and get yourself one, I promise it will be worth it.
If you are interested in purchasing a Dominiak Custom Cue or a Dominator II shaft send me a private message or an email at BWSHUFF@HOTMAIL.COM. Price negotiations are available When contacting me. Check out the home website www.dominiakcues.com. I will put up a Feedback thread after the first few purchases so everyone can give the piece of mind. Thank you for checking out this Bio of Dominiak Cues and have a wonderful day.

I had an opportunity to hit a couple balls with ^ his dominator this weekend, one word > quality. IMO, it has a better feel than any of those mass produced big name shafts. I will be giving Shuff a call in the next week to order my dominator.

I've been playing with a WD1020 for like a year plus. I love this cue, but have been looking for a shaft with a stiffer hit. Bill's work is extraordinary. He is a wonderful person to do business with. One of the lesser known great cuemakers out there. Give it a shot, you will not be disappointed. Great post, Shuff. God Bless.
