WPBA National Championship

Just received a call from one of the contestants; looks like the first semi-final will be Jeanette Lee vs. Allison Fisher. The second semi-final will be Kelly Fisher vs. Ga Young Kim.

Should be 2 really good matches.

I bet Jeanette is liking this format right now. She hasn't been on TV in a stones age.:D Johnnyt

Question: I saw that Karen was in the top two of her round robin bracket, but I didn't see her name in the final 16. Am I missing something?

if # of wins is even the one with highest win % moves on. Johnnyt

I felt bad for Anna Kostanian. Even with a worse record, she had a better % than Julie Kelly.

Allison beat Jeanette 7-3.

If it hasn't been mentioned somewhere else.... Kelly Fischer beat Ga Young Kim in the second semi-finale -- 7-6, and Alison beat Kelly in the finale.

Anna has been playing well. I was watching her match against Allison, and at one point, Anna was ahead 8 to 5. Then Allison had a shot at a ball, and... well, you know Allison, give her an inch, and she'll take the whole 9 yards...

ALLISON WINS and will almost certainly be named Player of the Year....AGAIN!

I have it on excellent authority that she played the best pool of her career....which is saying A LOT.

Regards,
Jim

Allison Fisher Wins

Allison beat Jeanette Lee pretty bad. Jeanette seem to be beat before the first break was made. It looked like she didn't think she could win.

Ga Young Kim gave away 4 games in her match with Kelly Fisher. She did all the work and then dogged it.

Allison played almost perfect against Kelly Fisher. She ran out every time she got to the table in the first four games (2 Break & Runs & 2 Table Runs). She only made 2 mistakes the whole match that I can remember. Best I have seen her play in a long time.

What a fantastic finish to the year for Allison. To finish with 3 straight wins, including her career 50th and playing maybe the best pool of her career. Next year she will turn 40 and I think in the face of all the young, new talent, to continue her dominance, she is truly an inspiration.

She is not just the player of the year but of the decade!

In her first 4 matches, Allison lost only 6 games (two of the matches were 9-0). That's incredible. Congrats to Allison.

Congrats

to Allison, and she has such a cheery attitude all the time. As they say,
"She is one for the record books", indeed, she is!

Tables swtiched?

Looking at the pictures on the WPBA website, did they switch from the Brunswick Pro-cut Metro tables back to the Brunswik Gold Crowns?

They used the GC V tables this year.

New Rankings

The new rankings are up. Karen Corr has dropped to #4. Allison has a big lead at 1, but GY Kim, Pan, and Corr are all pretty close at 2-4. K. Fisher isn't too far behind them either. 2008 should be good.
