WPBA Peoria Format?

just got my VIP tickets ordered over in Peoria, made sure and called the first day this year before they sold out.

however, was wondering what the format for this year's tournament is? looks like its different from the other 3 years. the Par-A-Dice website says they are having only 3 ESPN matches on saturday, and basically says nothing about ESPN matches on Sunday? up through friday night everything looks the same, however.

are they squeezing more matches in on thursday and friday so they can have two days of ESPN matches this year? and therefore just the three ESPN matches on saturday? and how many matches will there be on Sunday? the sunday ticket price is higher than saturday, $75 to $60.

just curious.

My guess is that they are using the 'Florida Format' with 8 Televised Matches and the Website is not showing the last 3 matches as they are not for sale in advance. The VIP for the finals will probably be available only to Sponsors and the Casinos High Rollers which is normally the case.

I got VIP's for the finals...no problems...I just can't buy my baby any food for a few years.

BTW, does anyone know why they decided to use the FL format again?? And why this event?

so they are having five (5) ESPN matches on sunday?????

if so, that will take forever, geez.

If memory serves me correct, it is just 3 on Sunday...the semi's and the finals.

Please read this thread for more info on the FL tourney format.

well, the Par-A-Dice website and the people at the Gift Shop told me there are only three (3) ESPN matches on saturday.

sure would like to know for certain how this is going to be played out over there.

Have you tried e-mailing the wpba?

DCP,

I just ordered 2 VIP seats for Friday thru Sunday. Looks like a second mortgage is in order.

Thanks for the reminder. See you there

Wally,
hi, sounds good, looking forward to getting over there and seeing everyone again.

would like to know how the rounds are going to be played for saturday and sunday. if sunday is indeed 5 matches i doubt if i will stay for them all, might head out after 2 or 3 matches. like you told me last year, the ESPN matches are cool, but once you been there and done that a few times its not as big a deal anymore.

but if Allison begs me to stick around just for her sake, well, i might have to re-think things. . . . . . . . . . . .

I posted this question on Sarah's forum. There is only one session scheduled for Saturday so I suppose it will be a tv taping.

My housemate/road partner/scotch doubles partner Kathy has never been to a tv taping so we are staying Sunday night and driving back Monday.

Sunday should have 4 matches...the last quater final and the semi's and the finals. Saturday will have 3 quater finals. This was the way it was done in FL and the whole tourney was concluded by 7:30 pm

Wally, Landshark and DCP, I bought my VIP seats today, too. Looking forward to seeing all of you in Peoria.

And yes, as others have suggested, the WPBA Florida format will be used in Peoria.

I'm waiting for a couple of friends to get back to me on if they would like to make the trip with me so I don't have my tickets yet, but I'll be there as well!

Hey everyone,

We are using the extended TV format for this tournament. I can't remember the scheduling of the matches in Florida though. I believe Landshark is right in saying that all but one of the quaterfinal matches are played on saturday...so that is three matches. Then the last quaterfinal, the two semi's and the final are all played on Sunday. It sounds like alot but it actually moves pretty quick. Things were done in a timely manner in Florida.

I believe this format went over well with the public. More faces were put on TV and it opened some doors. I know we were given four extra hours for the second year in a row. That is a good sign from ESPN.

I look forward to seeing everyone there again this year. Hopefully we can have a little get together like we did last year.

i just hope the people at the Par-A-Dice Casino dont screw up my ticket order like they did the first year there, in 2002. i ordered VIP tickets, when i got my envelope it was nothing but General Admission. i told Steve Tipton, he said thats out of his hands, to talk to the casino people. i talk to the casino people, they thought i was not being straight. i told them i was charged for VIP tickets and got general admission and could show them on my credit card statement, which i didnt have, of course.

anyway, Tipton told me later to go ahead and sit in the VIP row if i wanted, and if anybody said anything to me just tell them to come and talk to him, he would take care of it. he knew me well enough to know i was being straight, and had got hosed by the casino. he's a pretty good guy.

that's a good tip. take your credit card statement with you.

I have had to use mine at least once for concert tickets ordered over the phone where the venue screwed my order up.

I just purchased my tickets for all the sessions!

Out of curiosity, is there anyone who will be staying at the hotel that would be interested in splitting the hotel costs?

By the way, Sarah...Good luck in Peoria.

i was always told i couldnt get into the Par-A-Dice Hotel on the weekends unless i was a players club member. i always stay at the Hampton at the other end of the parking lot.

sorry, dont want to split any hotel costs, unless its with Allison. or perhaps Aileen. or Darlene Stinson. or Jennifer. or perhaps, well, anyway, you know what i mean.
