WPBA Southeast Classic

I have to say, that both Allison and Karen have proved why they are number one and two...Still, it has been an exciting tournament! I ma so proud of Jenn, she has shown again she deserves all the attention she gets. I am also astounded and happy for Christy, she has 3 (or 4?) youngins and works her butt off! She is also fearless and I believe this is only her 2nd or 3rd pro event!

I am routing for Monica to pull off the win here...the first American (and Southerner!) born since 98! WOW!! Come on girl, you can do it!

Go DAWGS!
;-)

The crowd will surely be behind Monica. As I'm the one who raised the subject of American-born title holders, let me clarify.

I'd guess American-born Jeanette Lee has won about eight titles since 1998, but other than Jeanette, no American-born player has won a WPBA event since Vivian Villareal won the 1998 Brunswick New York Classic.

In the 2004 WPBA season, though, the picture brightened a little for the American-born players, as three times one of them posted a third place finish -- Monica Webb (at Peoria), Melissa Herndon (at the US Open) and Jennifer Barretta at (Florida). And, of course, American-born Tiffany Nelson managed a second place finsih at the 2005 WPBA Great Lakes Classic.

Maybe the time is right, so let's see what happens. Good luck to Monica today.

Ummm....any body heard any results yet?

Corr has beaten both Allison Fisher and Monica Webb and Karen is now playing Ga Young Kim for the title.

According to the WPBA highlights page Karen beat Allison 7-3 . Allison woke up with a severe krick in her neck.(probably from checking for BJT sneaking up behind her). Anybody got anything on Karen vs Monica?

Edit Edit: Thanx sjm you must be a mind reader.
GOOOooooo Monie!!!!

I posted that Karen Corr BEAT Monica Webb. The brackets say the score was 7 - 4. Corr and Kim are playing the final right now!

WPBA.COM is now reporting that Karen Corr has won it at WPBA Florida, beating Ga Young Kim 7 - 4 in the final. The win pulls Corr to within 120 ranking points of #1 Allison Fisher. As a result of her fine tournament, Ga Young Kim is now the #3 ranked player on the tour. By my calculations, the new Top 16, meaning the players that will be seeded at WPBA Peoria, are:

1 Allison Fisher, 2 Karen Corr, 3 GY Kim, 4 Jeanette Lee, 5 Monica Webb, 6 Kelly Fisher, 7 Gerda Hofstatter, 8 Julie Kelly, 9 Tiffany Nelson, 10 Vivian Villarreal, 11 Melissa Herndon, 12 Helena Thornfeldt, 13 Jennifer Barretta, 14 Jennifer Chen, 15 Kim Shaw, 16 Sarah Ellerby

I've already done so, Vagabond. As we both recall, Karen was quite distraught after the BCA open, and I'm sure this will put the smile back on her face. Hope you're well!

Ms. Chen dropped points, but gained no points and she didn't budge in the ranks??

BTW, Congrats Karen.

Yeah, Landshark, Jennifer Chen, who dropped only 15 points, left the door wide open for Kim Shaw, but Kim had a poor tournament and failed to take advantage of a golden opportunity.

How long has Tiffany Nelson been in the top 10?
I got see her a few years ago in a couple of Joss events and was very impressed with her game, not to mention a devastating break. Seemed like a real down to earth nice person.

I know for a fact she wasn't seeded at all in FL last December, though if memory serves me correct she was bumped around from 16th, 17th, 18th a few times. Then I believe in NC in Feb she got a 5th place finish and then maybe it was in Indy in March (or was it SD in April?? ) she scored a second place finish. Those two finishes alone were what got her seeded and in the top ten all at once. I think she was bumped around some in the seed a bit too.

Thanks LS. I have a habit of rooting for people I have watched and met and the only ladies I've seen play in person are Tiffany, Karen and Julie.
Good for Tiffany for finally breaking the top 10.
