Hi everyone. I finally made it to Albuquerque even though it felt like I never would. Travel delays really suck!

So on to the tournament....I didn't play all that great this afternoon. I played Susan Mello from Arizona. This was an ugly match. I couldn't get anything going. Bad shots and bad rolls were my motto today. It was a close match up until 5-5. Then I really started playing bad. I was facing an 8-5 deficit. I have to say that the Pool Gods smiled on me from there on out. I came back thanks to a few mistakes on her part. Hill-hill I made the 9 on the break.....but......the cue ball got kissed in the side pocket. Now I am thinking I am not supposed to win. I made a pretty stupid mistake when I got to shoot again and left her what I thought would be out. To my suprise I got a chance to shoot again on the 5. I ran out to win 9-8. I dodged a major bullet.

My next match is either Sarah Ellerby or Brenda Heras. They play at 7pm and I play the winner at 10pm.

Other updates:
Melissa Herndon won her match as did Jennifer Barretta. Lisa has yet to play.

Kelly Fisher played another great match and defeated Ewa Laurance 9-3. Lisa D'atri defeated Megan Minerich 9-3.

I'm sorry I don't have any other updates. I will try to have some later tonight.

Take care,
Sarah

Well, another second round loss. I'm getting pretty predictable with those. Sarah Ellerby played great and I made some mistakes....scratching on the break and lazy safeties. The final score was 9-5. Tomorrow I play either Liz Schwartzreich or Candi Rego at 6:30pm.

Some other updates:

Melissa Herndon won 9-5 against Jane Fujinaga.
Jennifer also lost to Karen Corr 9-0.
Hsin Huang beat Kim Shaw 9-6

Kelly Fisher beat Julie Kelly 9-6. That was a great match with some good safety battles and interesting run outs...maybe i should have been watching my own match :(

Melissa Morris defeated Helena Thornfeldt 9-4. She played a great match and really took advantage of mistakes.

Gremlin, my only excuse for the WPBA's lack of reporting is maybe the confusion of getting our pictures taken and organizing that at this tournament. That is all I have to offer. I try to do my best at reporting this stuff but I can't be there all of the time and watch everything. I'm sorry that the WPBA has disappointed you. I will try to mention something to them about that.

As for helping the fans or caring about them. All of the pros care about the fans just not everyone has a computer to bring with them to tournaments. I hope that they all want to be posting but just can't. Without you guys we would have nothing. The friendship and support that I have received from everyone here has been great through thick and thin. Thank you all.

Take care,
Sarah

Thanks for the updates

Sorry to hear about your second round loss. It sounds like the trip out there might have worn you out a bit. Recoup and play well.

Andy

hey sarah

sorry about your 1st round loss. cant be that new shaft can it?...lol. i guess we're meeting darren up at pockets on saturday afternoon. not sure if his "special friend" is coming or not. i played two small tourneys this week, i got a 2nd and a 3rd. the 2nd place actually wasnt too bad considering i got knocked out 1st game and came back to take 2nd. i was up for 24hrs too. oh well, cant win em all. good luck and i look forward to getting together when you get back. joey

Sarah,

Sorry to hear of your 2nd round.

Forget about that and good luck on the rest of the tourney!!! We are pulling for you.

Jerry

Hi Sarah best of luck today, Just believe in yourself and rely on all the hard work and the skills that you have achieved and good things will come out of it. Your Friend

OK, start using the force.

I guess Yoda said it best, "Stopped they must be; on this all depends. Only a fully-trained Jedi Knight, with the Force as his ally, will conquer Vader and his Emperor."

The force IS with you. Use your powers if you must. Don't let Vader win. ;)

Thank you all for everything. I will definitely try to make the ultimate comeback.

Joey, congrats on the two tournaments you played in. It sounds like everyone would have been in trouble if you had some sleep. You guys will like Pockets. It is a nice pool room. I look forward to meeting up with you guys when I get home.

I will be back with an update tonight. Take care everyone.

Sarah

Like I've said before, if all else fails, whip out the cue'fu magic we talked about. I guess everyone just doesn't realize how dangerous you are, or they would make SURE they lost! Hah.

You are a reincarnated Tazmanian DeVILLE(: That could be your nickname, lol. I still like mine better*trails off into space*

Take care,

Dea :D

Sarah, Sorry to hear about your loss, oh well, just pick up and keep practicing! Thanks for taking the time to update the site.

I hope to see you in Oregon next month.

Ryley

Good news today. I won my match against Candi Rego 9-6. I started out really strong. I was up 7-2 then suddenly I decided it was nap time. I fell asleep until the score was 7-6. Then she missed a 9ball. I won that game. Up 8-6, I broke and ran out. Whew! dodged a bullet again.

Tomorrow I play Rachel Abbink at 10:30 am. All of you keeping up with the brackets know that that means Jennifer lost her match. She lost 9-8 to Rachel this evening.

Melissa Herndon is still going strong in the winners bracket. Tonight she beat Melissa Morris 9-4. She faces Ming Ng tomorrow afternoon.

Lisa lost tonight to Ewa Laurance 9-5. She made a good comeback but just couldn't comeback all the way.

Kelly Fisher is still alive on the winners side. Tonight she beat Jennifer Chen 9-5. She will play Karen Corr tomorrow.

Ga young Kim is having another good tournament here in New Mexico. She beat Jeanette tonight 9-5.

Hsin Huang played tough against Allison but just couldn't get there. She lost 9-7.

A major upset in the tournament was Julie Kelly. She first lost to Kelly Fisher last night and tonight she lost 9-4 to Ellen Van Buren from Florida. Great win for Ellen.

Take care everyone. I will have an update tomorrow.

Sarah
P.S. Ryley, I will definitely see you in Oregon. I look forward to meeting you.

Sarah:

Remember 'The Red Sox'...it ain't over till its over....keep stroking....

BTW - how is the rookie tournament director making out..???

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

That is a good motto to follow, never give up and it isn't over until it's over.

They are trying out another director at this tournament. Anita McMahon's husband Dave. He is doing a good job. He has been very energetic. The other guy, Al, who helped in Windsor is also here. They are doing a good job.

Take care,
Sarah

Hey Sarah,

Just wanted to mention how much we appreciate the updates. The WPBA website hasn't been updated since yesterday morning, so these updates are extremly helpful.

Good luck in your next matches!

It looks like Melissa is on a roll. Good for her. She will beat Ng.

Sarah, thank you very much for the updates. You don't know how much we appreciate it.

Good luck against Rachel. May all your rolls be good rolls.

Another good update. I won both of my matches so far today. I played decent in both matches. My first match against Rachel Abbink, I started out playing bad. I missed an 8 and then scratched on the next three 7balls. I started to come back. I finished the match out strong, breaking and running out on the hill. The final score was 9-7.

In my second match against Melissa Morris I started out slow again. I was down 4-1 but came back. I started playing well after the comeback. The final score 9-5.

I face Vivian Villarreal at 3:45. I have never played her before so it will be an experience.

Other updates:
Gail Grecar defeated Ellen Van Buren 9-5 but then lost to Vivian 9-1.

Monica Webb and Romana Dokavic were in a very close match. It was 6-5 when I left.

Loree Jon Jones was beating Hsin Huang 8-3 when I left.

Jane Fujinaga and Helena were hill-hill. I didn't get a chance to see who won. I'm thinking that Jane won from the reaction I saw from Helena.

Tracie Hines defeated Val Finnie 9-3. She will play Jennifer Chen.

Gremlin, I'm sorry to say that Leslie lost today to Ewa. I believe the score was 9-4. Ewa was playing Belinda Calhoun. Ewa was winning 4-2.

Angel Paglia defeated Kim Shaw 9-8 and then went on to lose to Jeanette 9-2.

Winners bracket matches were starting when I left. I will have updates on those later.

Gremlin, I think Kelly definitely has the potential to beat Karen. I talked with her and Val today. Kelly said she isn't nervous because she has nothing to lose.

I have to go play. Take care everyone.

Helena must have a good poker face. It looks like the WPBA brackets are somewhat updated and it list Helena as the winner of this match. Just an FYI for everyone.

Hope the tornado wasn't a threat. :)

Sarah,

I don't mean to step on your toes here, but the WPBA actually updated before you had time to give us an update.

Looks like you were trying to stop that tornado in it tracks, but it over came. Most people would follow the National Weather Service's advice and go into hidding, but you faced and fought it. Looks like it was a darn good fight too! :p (Do you think this post will win me the OMG, What a Dork award?)

13th place is a pretty great finish! Yay! Congrats! Plus you gained more points than you dropped, which is always great!

Tell Melissa we are pulling for her and we want another upset tomorrow! But also tell her to take it all in because next time that spot is yours. ;)
