WPBA US Open

I think she is in the Losers bracket finals with third place and 7500 bucks locked up. In the actual finals with a win.

Starting on Youtube now:

Chou Chieh-Yu is waiting to play the finals against the winner of the Easton/Lu match, being played now.

Every time I see Savannah play she is a noticeably better player. It truly is amazing how quickly her game continues to develop and improve even at her now high level.

She is the best American-born female player. She plays 700+ Fargo and is just waiting for the system to catch up to that reality. And she is now a real threat against any top female player.

She is probably the favorite against Silviana, even with how well Silviana also has been playing.

Don't know if anybody's been watching any of this, but Savannah Easton's game has taken a quantum leap in this tournament. She's into the Finals after beating Wei 8-3. I've watched her last 4 matches and I haven't seen her play anything close to this level before.
I tried to take note of Savannah's progress in my thread about the Las Vegas Open but most were not buying it. Yes, Silviana Lu absolutely handed her the semifinal at the WPBA US Open with mistake after mistake down the stretch, but Savannah's win over the accomplished Wei (Fargo 755) tells you all you need to know,

As I noted then, Savannah is learning to grind, far more dangerous in defense/kicking sequences than in the past and it means more good runout chances. If her tactical IQ continues to grow, she'll become an even more dangerous out.

Bottom line here is that there is real development here and it is nice to see. Well played, Savannah, and keep up the good work.

I've been watching on and off the past couple of days. Caught the last rack of the loser's bracket final. Great match!
Yeah I really felt for Silviana. She is another player whose game has really been improving quickly. The entire match (really, the entire tournament) she has played as well as I've ever seen her play. But that last rack I think the nerves got to her a bit and she over-drew off the 7-ball and that was what eventually cost her.

Tons of credit to Savannah for playing great, especially for not kicking herself too much for her mistake playing the shot on the 2-ball in rack 12 rather than going for the safe and eventually hooking herself. Rather than moping and dropping out mentally, she came back from that tactical error, down 7-5 with the break disadvantage, and shot great to get to the hill. Then after her opponent's error left her a long tough shot both off the rail and down the rail she nailed it to clinch the match.

Her mental game is now progressing as much as her physical game. I'm excited to see how far she ends up going.

BTW on the one shot where Sav went 4 rails and hit the tit on the side pocket, the announcers thought the 2 rail path was better. My banger self fully agrees with the route Sav took. The 2 rail route the speed would have been off. It would have been more a low speed drag shot. Tougher in this situation and with new cloth than going 4 rails with the CB with a firm stroke.

This shot. I can't link the video timestamp because the vid is still live.

I'm watching the drawing, I've got my name in there for one. I should say my wife's name is in there as I gave my $50, but was shooting an opponent at league so while i was shooting, my wife wrote her name down.

Rita is about a 20 to 1 favorite in this match, using current FargoRates. Perhaps Savannah is now playing a bit better than hers!
