WPBA West Cost Classic

Does anyone have any updated information? I'm just trying to figure out who is playing in the 6:30pm matches. Thanx.

OK, never mind..brackets were just updated. Thanx Kelly. :)
Barretta, Biddle, Shaw, Hurst, Pawloski, and Rim (nice :)) are still in.

6:30 matches (???) are: D'Atri v. Gail Grecar, Seaver v. Rousey, Smith v. Kim, Fuginaga v. Little, Sakai v. Thornfeldt, Mello (she's beat Gina???? ) v. Williams, Rego v. McCracken, Hines v. Minerich

OK. I have to fess up here. Sarah played better than I did during that match. A couple of untimely scratches on her part kept me in the match. I didn't play well at all to start that match....and even when it seemed like I was pulling it together and would run out a rack...I couldn't keep it going in the next rack.

At 7-7, she scratched on the 5-ball...I guess the table rolled off a little. That was a good break for me because she should have won that game and probably would have taken the match.

She and I both appreciate all your support...and for those of you who were rooting for her....I'm sorry. I really would have been happy for her if she had won!

I just wanted to take this moment to admit to you all that she should have won...and to let you all know how much I love and respect her! Wanted to give her the props she deserves!

Melissa

You're very classy, Melissa, just like Sarah. Good luck to both of you the rest of the way.

Wow, real celebrities posting here! :D

I admire both of you ladies for your sportsmanship (it's refreshing in this era of trash talking) and I hope to see you play live one day. Melissa, I saw you play on ESPN against Karen Corr last year and I really enjoyed watching you play. Good luck Sarah and Melissa the rest of the way.

And keep going Vivian! ;)

GoVivian, am I correct in assuming you are a fan of the Texas Tornado Vivian Villarreal? She is definitely one of my favorites on the WPBA Tour. I'm hoping she can have a repeat (or better) of her last tournament, where she made the TV rounds.

Nice to see I have some company here, PJ. Yes I'm a huge Tornado fan and I'm also hoping she can carry some momentum into this tournament. :)

Still waiting for ESPN2 to publish TV air dates for the last tournament so I can see my fave play. Any scores yet? :o

Some more results from the winner's bracket:

Herndon def. Lee 9-6 (yay, Melissa)
Villarreal def. Rogers 9-0 (too bad Melissa vs. Vivian isn't on TV; hopefully it will by Sunday)
Atwell def. Ellerby 9-7

PJ

wow a shutout! Viv's on a roll. Well done!!! :D

Congrats also to Melissa - very nice win vs Jeanette :) (sorry I'll be rooting against you in the next round but please do provide us with another match report) ;)

A very classy lady indeed, not to mention she just took out the number three ranked player in the world! After getting Jeannette in a huge hole, I think 7-1 was the largest margin Melissa finally finished Jeannette off at 9-6 *I saw someone else posted the score so I corrected it...lol* if I recall correctly.

Sarah, unfortunately, lost her match against Seaver. Sarah came out shooting and played very well in the beginning, but missed a few key shots to let Seaver back in the match. It was then neck and neck to the finish line where our beloved eventually fell.

Jennifer Barretta is still alive after losing her first round match to Helene Caulkin. She has beaten Engh, Rhee and Biddle today, all close matches. I'm happy to report that I was in the checkout line with her, which was taking forever, so I paid for her so she could go warm up for Rhee. :)

Lots of other great matches today as well. From what's fresh in my mind Gerda made a very nice comeback after being down 7-2 against Dokovic, Monica Webb lost a close one to Kelly Fisher, Ewa lost a close one to Julie Kelly and the Allison Fisher and Jennifer Chen match was awesome. Allison won 9-8 but in the hill-hill rack Jennifer Chen made a length of the table jump shot to make the six and then nearly scratched and had the seven almost in the center of the table, which she ended up missing leaving the 7 and 9 for the Dutchess. A very exciting end to the evening!

Well, that's all my brain will let me remember at this point in time. I hope this post isn't too incoherent! Sleep well everyone, I know I am going to.

Any updates on today's matches? Thanks in advance.

PJ

Remember, the tourney is on the West Coast, so today's matches may not even have begun yet!

I much to learn about curtailing my impatience. How quickly I forget time differences (oh darn, I just remembered about Daylight Savings too; this all too much for me to handle).

Thank you so much, Zack. By the way, we'd all be grateful if at the end of the evening session, you'd post who the four players are who will make TV appearances. The brackets on WPBA.com are nearly never current at the end of Saturday's play.
