WPC 9 ball in Qatar

Live From Doha...It's the World 9-Ball Championship

I'm here in Qatar working as the press officer for the WPA. The Qatar Billiards And snooker Federation is in charge of this event. They are relatively new to this so they are getting their act together. From what I've seen in the last day, they are doing a fine job and we are trying to coach them into making it even better.

The event will be broadcast on Al Kass TV from the last 32 on. ON Al Kass' website, they stream their broadcasts. So did you get that? That means that you can go right to the Al Kass site and watch the World 9-ball championship. Or so I'm told.

I believe that it is the correct site. Yesterday a guy from the Federation showed me his Iphone and it was live streaming a soccer match on Al Kass TV. I will try to have more information today because we really want this to get out to as wide an audience as possible. We are even discussing doing the commentary in English as right now, it will definitely be done in Arabic. I was told they have some mics set up for us to do it in English.

In the meantime, while we sort all of this out in this molten blazing hot kingdom, if you want the real story of what's happening at the World 9-ball Championship visit our new and improved site at www.wpa-pool.com.

Here's a link to my latest story: http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/index.asp?id=17&pagetype=event_news&eventid=32&eventnewsid=58

I'll be writing several articles each day throughout the event so you are guaranteed to get the real low down on what's happening here.

Another great way to keep up to day is via our Twitter page. Yes, the World Pool Association is now on Twitter. Our Twitter user name is @poolwpa. You can go directly to our Twitter page at, http://twitter.com/poolwpa.

I am personally manning this Twitter account and I promise you it will be entertaining and informative. Check it out!

Shane went there from Manila, then home, a round the glob road trip, pretty cool. He loves it too.

9 world 9 ball champions

In the meantime...check out this photo I took last night at the players meeting. 9 World 9-ball champions. Who can name all the players and also, what year they won their title? First one to come up with the answer gets a shout out on Twitter.

It's amazing how negative some people can be. As I posted earlier in this thread, Al Kass TV here is going to be broadcasting the last 32 onwards. They stream their broadcasts on their website. I just found out where the button is on their site...it's in Arabic after all and I had to have someone translate it. So now we know where to find the stream, starting with the last 32. Now, we are working on us doing the stream in English. Are you even just a little bit excited now?

Check out the WPA site for complete updates www.wpa-pool.com

And enjoy life...it's too short

Nope, frankly I'm not even a little excited. Wow, the last 32 of a World Championship might be streamed - in Arabic. Let me get this straight, you're with the sanctioning organization and you yourself just found out where the "button" to the stream is and are just now, in the middle of the event in progress, trying to find someone to do the translation to bring it to the world? Oh wait, maybe I read that wrong, the translator was needed to read the button and a global stream of a world championship event will only be in Arabic? God bless the WPA.

And I do enjoy life, thank-you. In fact, this weekend I plan to enjoy Big Truck's stream of old school 9 Ball. :grin-square:

ok pal. I'll be here enjoying the finest 9-ball on the planet, mixing it up with the greatest players on earth, while you'll be reliving the old days and sulking in your beer. I think you need to get out of your small town a little more.

By the way, check this out...

Very classy, putting down a competing event/stream, but not unexpected. Can I consider this an official statement of the WPA?

You have fun too. BTW, I don't sulk, I don't drink, and I live in an area of about 7 million people. You know me so well.

?????

Sorry but I really can't understand why there is no streaming for a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ???

Is it that HARD for putting a webcam on the scoreboard to stream the table ( like what they do in EVERY Eurotour and European Champion , yes they have the streaming for all tables ) ???.

Sorry but technically it takes one hour for install devices - testing - bla bla and we have the stream .

And if you can't afford 13 webcam, buy ONE for the TV Table LOL .

Sorry but I really can't understand.

Is this how you want to develop the sport we love ? When all the fans in the world waiting to see their favorite players and we got nothing ( well until the last 32 lol , and what we do if our hero lost already ? )

God bless our passion.

Its sad to see how WPC 9 ball has changed so much in the recent years. I personally went to the 04 and 05 one in Taipei and Kaohsiung respectively. They were awesome! It was always packed and broadcast on the biggest sport channels.

I get the strong feeling this tournament just serves the pleasure of an extremely rich Middle Eastener.
