I can't believe there isn't a thread about the latest results from the WPC ! What's wrong with you people ? :p

Okay, here goes:
Results:

Live scores: (currently with technical problems, not updated)

Most have played only 1-2 matches and hardly any conclusions can be made. Went through the list and maybe only thing that hit me was Jose Parica losing first two matches 4-5. And German qualifier Sascha Trautmann was bounced off from a KLM flight and arrived late at the venue and had to forfeit his first match against Luc Salvas 5-0. Too bad for him.

Go Immonen and the rest of the Finns !! :D

This is not really a true indication of country performances...as some players have only had one game.

But this is the number of players in the top 4 of their groups so far.

USA 10 out of 13
Philippines 9 out of 12.
Taiwan 8 out of 13
Japan 5 out of 8
Germany 4 out of 5
England 4 out of 9
Holland 2 out of 4

Colin,

Interesting way to look at it! Could it be that the home countries (Teams) are playing a little shaky now. I noted Reyes won one 5-1 so not a whole lot is changed? Tony Drago is playing well at 2 and 0. He is my dark horse to win the tournament.

Cheers,

Gremlin

I think a few of the Taiwanese are a bit shaky...they lack competition with open fields. But I'm sure there are 4 or 5 of them who have what it takes to go all the way of they hit form.

Drago looks stronger and more experienced than last year where he made the semis.

Watch young Kuo Po Cheng (about 15yo) from Taiwan who waltzed through Nick Van De Berg 5-0 today looking sooo cool.

Kevin Uzzel (sp?) England is 10-0.

So far to go to see who has and can keep form.

I'm watching every live televised game (7 hours per day) so will keep you all updated on who is hot and who is not :D

btw. You guys may be interested to know that Earl got into another controversy today.

After he came out to the table he was told he could not use his finger extensions. So he ranted a bit and then took a couple of minutes to take taping of his fingers.

Rumor has it, he was overheard threatening to sue the referee Michaela Tabb. She apparently told him to take it up with the WPA.

Anyway...he was hilarious, mumbling and laughing like a schitzo for a while...then settled in for a pretty solid 5-1 (or was it 5-0) win over Patrick Ooi of Malaysia.

Earl's form was ok, but not great...poor Patrick did not look at all in his element. Earl tends to have that effect!

Chia-Ching Wu is 15 years old, not Kuo. Wu defeated Young-Hwa Jeong 5:0 and Niclas Bergendorff 5:2. :p

What exactly is a finger extension???

Earl first used these finger tip extensions in the 2003 WPC and was allowed to use them.

It changed for some reason this year.

Oh, just realized. The stats aren't correct concerning the Finns. There are 4 Finns at the WPC: Immonen, Juva, Lohtander and Sellberg.

WPC TV Coverage

So how in the world, Colin, did you get this cable connection to the WPC? Is it some parabolic that lets you see Asian channels at will? Lucky you! And thanks for keeping us informed about how the matches are proceeding. Did you see an Efren match yet?

Well I'm living in China, and all through Asia this event is being broadcast over 7 hours live daily on Star Sports. Plus replays on Star and Espn are another 8 hours of daily broadcasting.

Get that??? 15 hours broadcasting per day.

I think I saw Efren on day1 but there are so many matches I'm losing count.

I'm collecting the stats simply from the info at
www.worldpoolchampionship.com

They have live scoring you guys can watch too.

I don't know what I'd do, if they'd broadcast 15 hours of wpc pool every day here. Definitely not sit at work...

Yeh, I got star as well. I got cable so there is 3 star sports channels..and if it aint on the first one ,its always on the second one.

For your information guys, a good match has to be the match between Alex Pagulayan and i think some European guy..great match.

If anyone wants to pay for a recording let me know and maybe i can start using my wated time to make some bucks recording it.

Regards.
