Wrap Help Question

I was wondering if anyone can help I have an old cue in my cupboard & the wrap on it is one of the most comfortable I have ever used but I don't know type of wrap it is, I know it's not leather or linen all I can say is it feels spongey to the grip.

Can anyone maybe hazard a guess as to what kind of wrap it might be.

And, FTR: I am guessing it is cork.

Looks like a rubber grip, similar to what is used on softball bats.
