Wrap Question. What is the tackiest feeling leather grip?

It gets my vote , I love that wrap not to mention the look you can get with all the choices

Although it's not actively tacky I find the Predator "Leather Lux" wrap to have a high level of grip. It is described as a leather wrap but the top layer is some kind of vinyl. (Supposedly it is leather underneath but you can't see it.) It reminds me a lot of the PU Vinyl cushioned grip tape wraps used for racket sports, although some of those have an actively tacky surface whereas the Predator wrap just feels very dry.

At first I found the distinctly artificial feel of the surface to be off-putting, especially as it does not have a attractive look of real leather. However having used one for nearly a year now I am really enjoying the consistency of the surface. So far there has been no apparent wear or smooth spots that real leather wraps tend to acquire.

Picking up a linen wrapped cue recently felt really strange after using this wrap. I also love the look and feel of wrapless cues but my hands inevitably get too sweaty to make these practical for me, especially here in darkest Southern California. The Predator wrap is able to absorb some moisture from the top layer to maintain consistency and this works well for me. My only concern is cleaning it long term, and I suspect the surface might chip if struck against a hard edge. (Fortunately I haven't put this to the test yet.)

Not sure if they are easily available for after market installation though. If you want to try one on a non-Predator cue I'd suggest trying Seyberts.

Cork is decent and will last a while but it is more of a smooth tecture and not what I am after.

I wonder how the oil tanned leather options feel?

I used to play with the 3 cushion rubber wraps on my pool cue and loved the tackiness it provided, but not the extra diameter. I was going to have a cue maker make me a cue, with a wrap groove cut in it, that would match the roll on rubber wrap thickness and length I wanted.

Anyway, I never had it made, and went back to a wrapless cue.

But, I think it would work fine. If you do it, maybe buy 5 or 6 of those wraps, so as they tear (like they usually do after a while), you can replace it and be sure it will match the groove since you bought them all at the same time.
