Wrong Ball

But as far as I'm concerned if your a pro you should be able to adapt. Everyone should be able to adapt after a couple of games. It's not like they are new anymore.

I agree completely with this statement.

I also have to say I fully detest ALL the non-traditional ball colors - seriously, pink?!? what is this the breast-cancer awareness ball? AND, what color is that tan/brown/caramel Mississippi Mud ball? AND, the hue of green just looks like neon-puke - but, I also recognize that I am a grumpy "Get Off Of My Lawn" kind of guy; and, I don't like change... unless I approve it first LOL!

I also agree that the rational behind the color change is spurious at best; and, would appear to be motivated more by a desire to institute change for the sake of instituting change - rather then to address a critical problem requiring a change and providing an enhanced benefit.

On the other hand, I feel the "Measles Cue Ball" was a boon to showing spin, especially during slow-motion replay - so, no issues there; being a change which provided a direct benefit for the TV viewers.

Sad to say, I also agree - from my unenlightened opinion - that the whole color-change thing appears to be based more on forcing a unique visual trademark on a thing, and, $elling more ball sets.

Whatever, the whole thing is an unnecessary giant pain-in-the-ass, if you ask me. - GJ

You might as well stop watching now. The rest if the world has accepted these ball colors. They are not going to change back because of a bunch of whining Americans. On the contrary...they will stick to those colors to spite us. I really cant think of a single other country that is having an issue with the (no longer new) colors. I dont think anyone else can name one either.... not without proof that is.
Why do we care what other countries are happy or unhappy with the colors? What does that have to do with whether American viewers are using traditional ball sets or are diminished in their ability to follow the game with ball sets that differ from those they use on a daily basis?

Think about this for a minute.... what quality of pro pool would we have if it wasnt for the hard work of Matchroom? I say it would barely exist. If they were animals, US pro pool players would have been put on the endangered list. Now they are on a threatened status.
How does trying to get Matchroom to correct an arbitrary decision that impacts viewers suggest we want Matchroom to stop promoting pool?

And can anyone answer this for me....
Which American pro players are bitching about ball colors in 2022? They might have when they first come out, but it seems they have accepted them to be the norm.
Why do we care whether pro players are bitching about ball colors? The issue I raised is whether American viewers are impacted by the change.

As ive said before, I prefer the traditional colors, but the black set is not a deal breaker for me. Matchroom is doing a good job. Or maybe y'all think we should go back to the shady, money stealing America promoters we had about 15 to 20 years ago?
Again, how does changing the ball set back to traditional colors mean a reversion to "money stealing America (sic) promoters we had about 15 to 20 years ago?"

None of your points addressed a single issue raised in the post or contribute to the discussion of whether Matchroom should return to the traditional ball colors.

That's because you can't comprehend what I'm writing. I explained it perfectly well. Let me do it again..

Number one.. why do we care what other countries think? Ask yourself why the hell do they care what we think? Obviously they don't. United States is a very small player in the pool world.

Number two.. you can try to get Matt's room to change their decision until you're blue in the face. It isn't going to change anything. They did what they did, and that's the way it's going to be. Get used to it.

Number 3... I asked why the pro players were not bitching about the ball colors. If they can get used to playing with them and not have an issue with it, you can get used to watching it and not having issue with it. If you can't, well I guess that's tough cookies.

Number four.. when I commented about our unscrupulous past promoters, I didn't give a shit about the ball set colors when I said that. I said match room is doing a good job. If they want to use a certain ball color pattern, so be it I would rather get used to the fall color change then the thieves we had promoting pool in the past. Ball colors are a very small thing compared to what we used to have.

There, that should have cleared up any confusion that you may have had.

Nonsense. The only place you see these colors is at Matchroom events, and not even all of those. The last Matchroom event in Asia was played with traditional ball sets.

There is no doubt that Matchroom has been a huge boon for the sport, but the balls are a mistake that needs to be fixed.
What I meant was is Matchroom has made up their mind. There's No Going back, they're not going to change it. All the whining, crying, complaining, and bitching are not going to change it. You do have to respect Emily for standing her ground and sticking with her decision instead of being some kind of politician and changing her mind depending on which way the wind blows.

We are never going to agree on this. Yes it is on the pro's to know the colors and sets they are playing with. That isn't what is being discussed, that is the point being missed. Matchroom is doing great things for pool right now but they are not above criticism. Dazn is a brutal choice for the US, the ball choice is horrendous. Why can't this be criticized? Your fan base hates these two decisions, she may never change but that doesn't mean we have to accept it.
Their whole goal is to attract fans and sponsors. Explain to me how using a ball set with colors you won't find in any pool room helps new fans understand the game? New players have a hard enough time learning this sport, now lets confuse them while they are watching? Makes no sense. When they go out to play, the 4 will "likely" be purple and the 5 will most certainly be orange. You don't think this will cause some confusion to their highly coveted NEW fans? Yes, I can adapt and figure out that when watching a Matchroom production that the 5 ball is purple, it's not that hard but I watch a lot of pool. Can the new fans, or casual fans? Why confuse them? I hope that Matchroom doesn't go the way of the ABA. You know, they had their own color scheme as well.
Changing things that aren't working or aren't loved by your customers isn't being a politician. It's being a smart business person and making your product better to get more customers.

This post from Shane makes things worse imo and shows his true colors. If he would have said it's not my responsibility to correct him, I could understand that. But when he talks about the points and the money it shows that he made a cold intentional decision that has nothing to do with the rules. He has lost my respect for sure.

That's why Shane is one of the best in the world and we all aren't.

But we do agree. I've said over and over again I prefer the traditional colors. But because Match room wants to use other colors, it's not a deal-breaker for me. When I'm the one calling the shots, then I get to choose the ball colors.

Maybe I just don't get the issue with some of you. I have absolutely no problem watching a match and knowing what ball is what. It's not that damn difficult. It's not rocket surgery.

I’m still confused. 40 years of seeing things one way is under minded by a mixup of the colors. I have to remind myself all the time what balls next when I’m looking for the pattern to run out. It’s not good.

There was no confusion on my part. You spewed a bunch of invective that didn't actually address a single point in the post. You made no contribution to the discussion.

Your ID is fitting, buckshothoey. You spew generally negative and pointless comments like buckshot in a general direction way too far from the actual target to hit anything and it's all just noise and hoey.

OK, I have never even seen a set of the black balls live and in person! However, I still have experience with strange balls. The first ad's I saw claimed that dynasphere balls were made in Bengium. Not that fond of Belgium but I wouldn't have bought if they had said made in china with oversight from Belgium. Anyhow, all supposed to be the same quality so I started with the cheapest set, titanium?

A couple of weird colored balls but I played with them on my home table with no problem. It was a quick adjustment made the first day or two of play. I liked them well enough I went on and sprung for a set of the bronze balls in traditional colors in a month or so.

Strangest thing, with the very first break of the bronze balls I felt a tension relax in my head that I had never recognized was there. My very first thought was an extra forty dollars well spent! While I had thought I had adjusted just fine to the "wrongly colored" balls, they were creating a tension I didn't even know was there.

As for matchroom and the balls, dollars to donuts they are under contract now so there will be no changes anytime soon.

I could have been injured by that. You're witticism is almost sharp enough to cut warm butter.

Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean I didn't contribute. I gave my opinion. If you don't agree with it that's fine. But as for the personal tax, you can just fuck off

I thought that was what I said.
