Hello all, I am in need of a new 3C Cue. Mine grew legs last week.

I am looking for anything really, I know a lot about pocket cues but not so much about 3C cues. I would like something under 18oz but will look at anything. I would like to try and find a Layani really light. If you have something you may be willing to part with please call me @ 623-377-0020 or just post the pics here or email them to gregoryjacklin@yahoo.com.

Contact Layani infos@layanicues.com Also I believe he's an AZ'er so you can pm him.

You should be able to get a cue from Schuler or get in touch with Brian Morgan if an emergency @ https://www.carombilliards.com/store/ , he typically has several carom cues in stock at all times. 18 oz is typical average weight.

Kilby may also have some inventory or semifinished cues.

Last but not least you may get lucky and locate Dennis Dieckman. He' travling around right now and normally has cues for travel cash. PM Billiardshot he can get in touch with him if you're interested.

Dieckman back home {Mich} but will leave for Expo in PA Tue. You can now call him at his land phone shown on his website http://www.cuemaker.com . He might still have a few Travel cue or Gas Cue as he sometime call them.
There rumor Jamison Neu will start building cue with Dieckman

i have some helmstetter carl conlon special (ccs)available - the solid maple( with no wrap) and a butterfly as pictured below. these have pool tapered shafts, but i'm pretty sure i have a helmstetter 3c shaft around that will fit. the 3c shafts have no checked ring at the joint. i'll have to dig it up and make sure it's straight.

the maple (with no wrap) with both types of shaft would be $350. shipped and the butterfly with both shafts would be $525. send me a pm if you're interested and we can talk some more about the details -

Thanks to every one so far. I am just trying to figure out what I want. SO let me ask you this. I just picked up the game and I am addicted to say the least. Stuck on runs of two fairly consistently. I have been shooting with a schuler pool but with a billiard super constant shaft. This combo feels good but I am hoping I can find a cue with a shaft that does not get super fat like this one but yet plays very well. I am having to return this cue to my friend real soon but I really want to keep it so I can play. If you had the choice what cue would you get and why. I have also had the chance to shoot with a ceulmans cue and like it very much. What do you all think. It is really hard for me to just say this is the cue I want without trying others out. Please help me.

Greg

Raymond Ceuelmans won most of his world titles playing with his Schuler cue. He played with that cue until he decided to market his own brand. The great US champion and world ranked player Sang Chun Lee used a Schuler Cue. Several French pros use Schuler. On the other side of the pond, Longoni makes fine carom cues. World #1 Jasper and former world champ Marco Zanetti play with Longoni. I think Longoni are available in the US from one of the ranked players (perhaps someone can give you more info).

You could try putting a Schuler European taper on that Schuler cue. Easier to stroke with, but still a stiff taper.

Actually I've been in Europe for a few months doing promotions for my cues and it seems the most popular cues here are Adams and Longoni, probably because they make low end and high end cues. On the other hand, Schuler seems to be declining as I don't see a lot of players playing with their cues anymore. Their website is not up to date as many players listed there do not play with their cues anymore. On my side, my cues are getting out there more and more, I have over 15 pros all over Europe playing with my cues and they are selling quite good I must say. Being here, going to tournaments, meeting the players and the resellers helps a lot. I've been on the carom market for 3 years now and especially with the help of Frederic Caudron I can say modestly that I'm consider to be a "major" player here more and more. Just thought this information would be helpful.

You have the right idea trying out as many cues as possible. Where I live it isn't possible.

What I'm playing with is a Dieckman cue with a modified European taper. Just a tad more flex than what you've been using. Before the Dieckman it was a Longoni with standard European. I liked it and played well with it but thouhgt I'd splurge and have one made just for me and boy am i happy I did. Dennis worked with me on selecting the taper and picked the modified "Shooni" taper. You might get lucky if you contact him he may still have some already made that might fit you. If not you can't be in a hurry.

Schuler offers several tapers so check that out.

Wish I could try a Layani some day. Very interesting joint. The closest one I know of is 800 miles away.

Hey, Thierry what is that joint #1 Morse? Very cool. Seriously does it lock up like a Morse taper and the pin releases it? If so ever put one together without pin to see how it holds up?

On the Schuler subject.. Schuler is out of business.. I have tried every shaft combo/Butt combo I could of there's. Something about them just doesn't do it for me.

Thierry, When you get a chance I would like to speak with you about getting one of your cues into my hands. Be it new or used. I just want something different.

I have a chance to pick up a Kilby cue with the "Shooni" shaft. Might get it to try it out and see what happens.

Just something about this game that very intriguing to me. I am still fairly new to even pocket games. But this one takes the cake for me.

I reallt do thank everyone but I am still wanting to see what all is available.

Thanks, greg

On the Schuler subject.. Schuler is out of business.. <snip>

I posted a thread a while back asking if Schuler was out of business, and Terry Trim, Schuler's president, responded emphatically that they are not. They closed their shop in Illinois and are going to outsource their production to some company in Wisconsin - which one I don't know. I believe they're setting up there now.

I believe Thierry had commented on that in the past and I hope he comments again.

As I recall, the answer to the last question you asked was yes and perfectly.

I'm sure that the deaths of Ray Schuler and Sang Lee have something to do with fewer top-rated players today using Schuler cues than a few years ago. I don't think Schuler cues are even being made at the old shop near Chicago anymore. I know my Schuler cue signed by Ray himself is now worth about 40% more than what I paid. There are many fine carom cues being made. On my trip to Italy next year I think I'll pick up a Longoni.

Black-balled's reference answers a lot. But yes the first joint we designed did not have a pin. The problem was miscues. The joint would broke apart, not very useful. So now the pins secures the connection between both cones, but it does not have any influence on the hit itself. Although we designed this joint at first for pool it seems it's even more fitted for carom because you want to have a stiff hit with as less vibration as possible (because of the harder hit that is necessited for 3 cushion). I guess that's why many players really like it for carom especially for 3 cushion.
I will be at the Sang Lee in august this year and I should have a table with my cues. You're all invited to come by. And I always give special discount to AZers of course!

Thanks,

Read the thread. I think I get it now. Wish I could go to the Sang Lee Tourney. Unless you can tell me how to smuggle and sell torque wrenches into NYC area I can't afford to stop working. Economy is killing my game, such as it is.

I will elaborate on the schuler stuff when get back home. I'm in rapid city SD for there state finals.

Ok guys I just got back and let me tell you what fog flooding and snow turned my trip home into a very large trek. anyways here is the scoop. Dave Jacoby under trust from the Schuler Family will be building the Schuler Cues very soon. The employees at Jacoby are being trained as we speak in the proper methods of building a Schuler Cue. This is great for all of us as we will get a little more variety out of Schuler but with a lot better finish than we are used to. Not sure as of yet when the merger will be at 100% but I can tell you to expect great things. We are all very excited about this.
