Just what the title says! :D

I would like to buy one of the brass tip jigs (for pressing tips) that Leonard Bludworth used to make/sell.

If anyone knows where to purchase one or has one for sale it would be much appreciated.

I will build one for whatever size you want. Only info I need is what size tip you will be pressing. PM for price..

Keeps the integrity of the tip. If you press without retaining the shape it muchrooms out and tears the fibers of the leather.

I would make the press part out of aluminum or brass and the cylinder out of Delrin. You should be able to make something like that in a few minutes.

Some people use heat in conjunction with pressing the tip. However they are simple to make

Also interested... PM me prices please. Please included in the price the shipping to Hong Kong and Paypal Fees. I need for 14mm tips.

The sample is kinda big/huge, I want something cute that will press 1 tip at a time. :)

BUMP... still looking for a Bludworth Tip Jig
Send me an e-mail at, poolcues@hctc.net, I'll give you a price, and most likly help you out with other stuff, if you need help.....

I've been making those jigs, longer than most of these cuemakers have been living...The cylinder holds the tip from ending up like a flap-jack,
[ flat, like a pan cake for you youngsters],the tips, soaked in a high-solids Laquier sanding sealer over night, place it in the press, then a little heat and press in a vice, till it's cool. Tip will be hard as a ho's heart....

You just can't use a vice or whatever to press them, you got to have a cylinder of some sort...duh!

I placed the tips in a baby food jar, mustard or small jar, and every time I walked near it, I would shake it really well.

BTW, for you know it all's, there are three parts to the jig.....A cylinder, a backing piston, and the press.....

Some need to not take advice from those who think they have it together....Lots of folks here, love to see there name in print, or just sound off.....

Not trying to start a war, but please, if your going to give advice, make it count and help those who need the help. Please don't come with all the BS, and to those who give it, hit the nail on the head....

it sure as hell won't hold up with heat, which is what is needed to keep the tip hard and together.

blast

I've been pressing my Triangle tips dry in a vise for years and they work just fine. The tip flaring out is what I'm looking for, better to spread out and be trimmed than spread after it's installed on my cue. I'm not looking for a rock hard tip, just looking to mushroom it out before install.

I'm not a cuemaker and don't claim to know anything, I just know what works for me. I can see needing a jig like this if you are using a layered tip.

I fully expect to get blasted now.:p
No need to worry, sir, no blast nessesary, you do it your way, and if your happy with that, that's all that matters..

So.... the tip goes in the jig and then the jig goes in a bench vise of some sort?

<<< would actually like to know how it works

How it works, [ REALLY WELL], slip a 14MM tip into the cylinder with the flat side to the 14MM piston, [ the piston slides in the cylinder, first], and then slip the smaller rod, [with the concaved top], into the main cylinder, pushing down on the crown of the tip, place in a vice and press, as much as you want, I heat the cylinder [ requires not much heat], with all parts in it including the tip to be pressed, and then let it cool down, for about an hour or so, remove the rod, place it in the other end, and press the tip out. I soak the tips in a high-solids, laquier thinner, for a few days or as little as a few hours.
Using a vice without the cylinder is a no-no...the tip spreads and tears the leather fiber, you can also, re-press, layered tips with this same tool.
All the best..
