I am wondering if any of my fellow cuemaker friends would be willing to make me a brass insert installer like the one I have pictured ??? And yes, I got the idea from the tool on Prathers website before anyone bashes me. The one pictured is one I made for 5/16-18 brass inserts but I am needing one for 5/16-14 and I have no way of making the threads since I have no way to live thread. Yes... I know I can use my maintenance pin but I'm tired of cleaning glue/epoxy off of it and would just like one made from delrin like I did for the one pictured. I would gladly pay someone for their time and material used if anyone is willing to help. Thanks in advance.

I install all my inserts with either a tap, 5/16 x 14 or 18 or I have a special piece of steel that is about .250 square and the 4 corners are just right that they dig into the brass to help turn it.

Wait, I get the blank insert, you are using the already tapped inserts. I always had problems with them as it seemed the holes were off center and I would have to put another in. Got tired of that and went to blank insert, glue it in and then tap.

You should be able to use the 5/16 x 18 to screw in the 5/16 x 14 inserts also since they will only go in a few threads. When the glue dries you can take it out.

threaded rod on wood block....2 inserts butted up to each other on rod, one insert only half way on rod....quick, easy, easily replaced.

take a 5/16-14 pin and screw a brass insert on it and leave about 1/2 in or threads sticking out..... and use it for you insert installer................. it's what I always use......... works just fine

Try not using some much glue when installing the insert. If you are having to wipe the threads off the tool, or wish to use delrin because the glue does not stick to it, you will still have glue inside the threads that then needs to be removed. It does not take much to make the insert stay in place. I take a sharp V file to score the bottom external threads of the insert at an angle to the thread pitch to help things along.
