Chas is no longer making cue cases and did not make many when he did. All were one of a kind.

This one is one butt x three shafts ~ elephant hide.

$2000.

I don't think Chas made more than 5-10 cue cases. I think the one that is pictured in the Billiard Encyclopedia is th most ornate one he did. You can contact him through his website www.jacksandsaps.com

Here is a sign he did for me when we were collaborating on some work for Instroke. I have it framed in my office.

Victor Stein, I think.

You've got a good memory Jack.
How are you my friend?
Did you get your 3rd. Edition Encyclopedia yet?
By the way, Chas made me another case I think you and others might like seeing. This one is tubelike, popular with billiard players years ago.
I'll get a picture of it in the next few days if I can.
Chas really is a "Master Craftsman" and capable of almost anything a customer asks of him artistically.

Best Regards,
Vic

Not wanting to step on any toes.....especially Troy's....if you want to part with one or both Vic, please, please......do consider me as a candidate (after Troy of course).

I posted two similar threads regarding Clements cases a while ago, with only one response. Rare isn't the word......its the case equivalent of a Searing.

I had a long conversation with Chas Clements earlier this year and I can only deduce he has no intention of making anymore cases after his injury. Legend is a suitable word for the man and its a loss for people who appreciate fine billiard products.

I didn't realize Chas was no longer making cases. I was thinking about ordering another. Here are some photos of the case he made for me in, as I recall, the early 1990s.

Thanks for the pictures Bob. Chas' work is so clean and thoughtful. It's the kind of work that you can look at a hundred times over and still find a detail that you didn't see before.

Meeting him changed my life as a case maker. I still have a lifetime to go to have our shop be making cases that are anywhere close to his level of detail in either decoration of sturdiness. There is no other tooler in the history of cue case making that comes close to Chas Clement's work in my opinion. There are some that are showing signs of going that direction though.

Most of you don't know that Chas has a fine arts degree and that he worked for some of the most prestigious leather goods manufacturers in the world. He has tools that haven't been seen in a hundred years and he knows how to use them.

It is a shame that he won't be making cue cases anymore. It's a testament to how tough it is to work with large pieces like cue cases and saddles. I wish he would take on an apprentice but it's probably quite difficult to find someone worthy of that position.

Chas has said that he has made alot of cases. Some went to Europe and many went to wealthy guy's here in the states. I wish I could find one...:)

He surely knows better than I do. I never asked him how many he made. During the time I knew him he only had a few cue case projects in the works.

I know some of his knife sheaths were very expensive and highly sought after.

You might try the knife collector forums and see if that could generate any leads.

The first series of pics at this link are of the case Chas made for me back in 00-01, I traded it to Scott Murphy in a big swap back in 02-03. The guys at cue addicts may now where it is now. These cases are pieces of art, not really very functional for everyday use, but truly beautiful, not a day goes by that I don't regret getting rid of mine.
