Hi guys,

I'm looking for a cue that hits stiff and real crisp. Don't like to put too much effort in my cueing.

Looking for cues ONLY by reputable cuemakers (AC, Gilberts, Sugartree, Bluegrass, Banhart etc. You get the picture ) and I have a soft spots for cues with ivory and really sharp points too / bushka tributes. Not looking for sneakies

I've a '01 Scott Whisler for trade that I can throw into the deal too for the right cue.

Tons of Ivory

You'll find a lot of cues available with lots of ivory but most will tend to ne higher than your price range unless there's a desperate seller. Ivory really drives up the price of the inserts cost and of course, the added labor in manufacturing a cue with lots of ivory. But obviously, there are lots of cuemakers and lesser named cue makers, albeit perhaps qualified cue craftsmen, will provide you the best opportunity for a $1300 cue with lots of ivory.

In regard to a firm hitting cue, obviously the tip has a lot to do with the cue's feel, as well as the joint. A steel joint will definitely play different than an ivory or implex joint but in general, I've found Bill Stroud, Tim Scuggs, & Schon cues to be solid hitting cues. But you'll never find a Scruggs or Joss West with lots of ivory in your price range. Either of those cues will cost you around $1000 more than your cue budget. However, you can probably find a Schon that meets your requirements within your price range.

There are lots of other reputable cue-makers that you should also be considered. Just keep in ming that the tip, joint, and shaft thickness all definitely influence the way the cue will seem to fele when you strike object balls. Anyway, that's my two cents on your posting.

Check It Out

Hey,

I just saw a Schon R16 listed on AZ by Coastal Tony....lots of ivory...2 shafts...a steel jointed Schon so you know it's a firm hitting cue......and it's listed for $1300....check it out....multiple ivory inserts in the forearm and butt sleeve...nice looking Schon...I think you'll be really pleased with this one.

Omen

Do yourself a big favor and buy that Omen that Bill has for sale. I owned that cue and it hits as solid as anything out there. The cue is next to perfect and comes with two great shafts. If ordered from Pete, it would cost in the 1800-2200 range. You would be getting a heck of a cue for dirt cheap. Happy Birthday and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi Matt,

thanks for the referrals and recommendations but I'm pretty sure I'm looking for a cuemaker's custom. Not really looking for schons.

Just trying to see what nice deals I can catch.

Thanks,
Clarence

I've got a Jensen custom by Mike Johnson that's in your price range. I was looking to get $1200.00, but I'd let it go for $1000.00. It's a classic styled four pointer in amboyna burl w/veneers. It's got a thick ivory hoppe ring, but no inlays. All the points are sharp and even. It's got a 5/16x14 piloted ss joint w/boti style rings above and below. It comes with two shafts w/ivory ferruls and weighs 19.3 ounces with either shaft. It's also got a matching lizard skin wrap instead of the traditional linen. I'd rate the condition at 99%, it's got no nicks or dings anywhere on the cue. It's completly straight together and apart with either shaft. I just don't really shoot with it anymore, so shoot me a PM if you want to see some pics.

Hi Clarence and happy birthday.

How about a Sugartree? I have one I can sell you for $1250 and they don't hit any stiffer (CRISPer) than this.

If this might work for you, shoot me your email address and pics will be sent.

Best,

Hey Again, How is everything?

Looks like times have improved for you and either your game is improving and your making some monies playing or the economy is better where you are at.??
Anyway, I saw your listing and thought i would contact you because i have one cue in my inventory that is about all that you are describing and it is by an awesome cuemaker that made very few cues, but everything he made was top quality and he was a true custom cuemaker, he only made about 15 to 60 cues a year. Also, another factor that is in your favor is that he passed away about 3 years ago and no more cues will be made.
The cue is a 'Stout' cue made by Danny Stout, this particular cue is loaded with inlays and hits a ton, in fact every owner of any Stout I know of has stated they have never had a cue hit better than a Stout cue.

This cue is a Level 5 cue, with 6 main points inside 6 ebony points inside 6 Ivory Spearpoints, Also this cue has over Eighty (80) inlays in the butt section. If this is something that you might be interested in, I can send you some Pictures, just PM me back and let me know your e-mail address again.

I also have some nice custom cue cases, you might be interested in, 1x1 up to 2x4 Thomas or 100% Limited Edition In-Stroke made Predator Case,

Let me know and hopefully we can work something out,

Mike 'acedonkeyace' Kennedy

I have a Pristine Gracio Package for sale for less than your budget,Real big cue for the money and some:smile:

Buy that Titlist Bender or the Gilbert. You can't go wrong with either cue and you will definitely make your money back AT LEAST if they aren't what you're looking for.

Good luck in your hunt.

FWIW, I have been shooting with a Bryan Fisher for the past year and a half or so and I will never buy another cue again. They play that good in my opinion. See if anyone has one for sale, you can probably get one for less than half of what you're looking to spend and he is a hell of a nice guy to deal with.
