WTB Custom cue with my own design

Hi I have contacted a couple cue makers and always feel like I am insulting a cue maker by asking if they will build a cue to my design. So this is being posted up here as to not insult anyone. I need a cue maker who will build a custom cue with a design I have drawn out for under $3000. Preferably less. if I really like your craftsmanship/designs that’s my limit. It would be a specific pattern on the butt. Forearm is not as important.

Wenge butt, wenge or rosewood forearm, wrapped ebony handle. Handle harder than the forearm so it can also be bloodwood, snakewood, or even metal. I don’t care. But I do want it linen wrapped, and hope you wouldn’t make it out of metal. 😅19.25oz (if possible) With bloodwood, ebony, a few white abalone, and cocobolo(any brown wood will do) inlays on butt, and 3long 3 short points on forearm. Please let me know if you use standard or floating points in your designs. I am open to either. With your choice of joint and rings. I know it won’t be cheap. 2 shafts.11.75 and 12mm with at least 1” ferrules. On the shafts. Those are my thoughts and there is a certain taper I like, but am open to ideas on both diameter and taper. Might even go with 3 shafts if the price is right. Short ferrules are hard to deal with. I’d like the cue within 1 yr of placed order also. That’s not a deadline. It’s a starting point. I understand each cue maker has their own techniques and some take longer than others.

Anyone interested please PM me. This order was supposed to go to Viking but I have been waiting 5 months for them to get caught up to handle a custom order and they haven’t gotten back to me with even a price yet. Plus even though the drawn up design fits in with their “style” doesn’t mean they’ll actually make it. I don’t know. I’ve never heard of anyone getting a 1of 1 custom shop cue from them. I figured it would run probably around $2500. Maybe more. So I’d be willing to spend around that on the cue.

Looking to follow through with this around January/February after the “gifting” season, assuming it’s 1/2 down to start. Im serious about getting the cue made. So if your price is fair and your cues are well built I don’t mind even giving a small non refundable deposit(unless you cancel) up front to show I’m serious about the build at the beginning of the new year and not just a tire kicker.

Thanks for your time

Post the sketch in the Ask the Cuemaker section with your budget, many builders will contact you

Posting it in the cue builders section is a good idea. I have worked with a number of custom builders and would second Bob Owen as a suggestion, primarily because of three key reason: I love the way his cues play, they are affordable, and he keeps his timelines. Oh and he can create just about anything so he can probably make what you're envisioning. Good luck!

I agree with the above comments. I see no problem working with a cue maker on a design having done it myself. After all that is what getting a custom cue is about. I'd recommend the OP define his must have list concerning the build then discuss his ideas with a custom cue maker. That was my approach and it left the cue maker some opportunity to be creative on his own. I actually had him ship me all the Camatillo he owned so I could pick out the pieces I wanted. In the end when I opened the container there was that Ah Ha holy shit moment of WOW when I saw our collaboration in person!!

Well I am open for some changes. Sounds like Bob Owens might be the guy I am looking for. How do/did you get ahold of him?
