DH-4 Custom

Here's a couple of pics. The pictures do not do this cue justice (poor camera phone shots). The shaft shown is a old 314 in great condition. I do still have the original, but not here at this time.

Very nice cue JMURPHY. This is the first DH-4 I've seen with a steel joint!

And as for Mr. "redsvan" Yes, it just so happens the cue I have was custom ordered by me in 1989 with real silver & gold inlays! And yes Ivory points & shield. The shield had my initials put in from the factory not afterwards. And the red pinstripe in the points was added from the DH-3 which Bob Meucci liked & began making an option at a later date. The retail price on a DH-4 new was between $650-$750 dollars depending on how many shafts you wanted. When I picked up the cue at the Billiard Trade show. Bob Meucci told me, he would value this cue at about $1500 dollars! I was a Meucci dealer then and paid wholesale price.
It's been my past experience cues go UP in value when taken care of & are over 20 years old.

This cue was custom ordered from Meucci with the steel joint.

The real Giant Killer

Here is my real Giant Killer DH04. Cue is dead mint and as original as it gets. The cue has been released maybe 4 times if I remember right. The true original has the BLOCK LETTERS to say "David Howard by Meucci" If it has anything else on the butt other than what's pictured in here it's either David Howard's own cue (unlikely) or one of the later productions.

Cue's second release was the identical l;ooking cue, only it had the Meucci script logo. It was released again for a year or two without any Dave Howard name on it if I remember, then released a fourth time as part of the HOF series...where it enjoys a healthy following.

There was also a release that was listed as a "BIzzaro Knight" wich was essentially the same cue, but everything was reversed. White wrap, cue was fairly ugly if you ask me. lol

Here are the pictures of mine. I sill NOT sell to you as the original DH04 has a considerable amount of ivory in it. And frankly, you're personal assurance that it, "should be no problem" is not good enough.

Regardless, my pictures are posted more for reference and bragging rights than anything else. Old Meucci's have a weird cult following. Ahead of the time designs. Most of the time I don't understand it. However, in the case of the original DH04, I get it. Very progressive design, aesthetically pleasing even by today's standards. Liberal use of ivory. A great story behind the particular design. And even if you don't know the story behind this David Howard deisgn, the cue still has a desirable motif.

Behold....the first generation Meucci David Howard DH04 by Meucci...

no offense but if you havent got the job done here by now, you probably wont, and to the other posters these cues had zero ivory in them unless it was special ordered that way, they used ivorine in the dh cues , your best best is watch ebay, youll find one there soon,,,,,gl

Firstly, correct...if you have not got one by now you probably will not. Time to give up the ghost.

Second, these cues do have ivory in them. The two 1"x1" shields on this cue are in fact ivory. The ferrule is ivory as well. This was not an "option" or "custom order" as I ordered the cue myself through the local pool hall when I was a wee boy full of optimism and beer. I think it was around 300.00 if I remember right...that was a few week's pay for me back then. :)

Also I just had my cue refinished...shield is ivory. Ferrule is ivory.

Maybe the series that followed (the 95-97 or something) had ivorine. Looked identical, had the white shield (not the HOF7 wooden one), but had the newer script logo.
