WTB: Playing cue...budget-conscious!!!

Hi all,

Well....without getting into too many details, I'm in the market for a nice hitting playing cue.

Circumstances beyond my control caused the loss of my true pool-love (my BlueGrass...I had it for about a week, tops!). I do, though, take solace in the fact that our new 2-seater stroller, new crib, 2 new carseats, and 482 newborn outfits all look great!!! :) I'm quite certain that the new little one (on the way) will be more than pleased to crap all over them with GUSTO!!

Doing what I can to stay in the game, I'm gonna try for another cue. Much like everyone else in the community, I'm trying to make my dollar stretch as far as possible...and I don't have NEAR as many of those dollars as I used to.

I'm aiming to stay around the $350-ish mark. Decent production cues and low-end customs are equally interesting at this point. I need it to be straight and sound...and all else is just gravy.

I had a line in on a nice Joss cue with 2 shafts...but the seller flaked on me at the last minute....so I'm back at square one.

For all those that have a nice playing cue lying around, needing a good home, please hit me up via PM with any specs, pics, and price info you have.

Thanks much, ya'll. Only a few more weeks until the baby's born...and a few more after that and I'm GONE!! I'm sure gonna miss ya'll!!!

Be good, and have a great upcoming weekend.

A new Frey SP is in that price range. I've been happy with mine. Nicely figured wood, but otherwise very simple. Most people will say they hit nicely, but thats pretty subjective.

Chris,

Totally agree....a Frey is in that range....and they're awesome cues.

I can't play with a wrapless or wood handled cue, though. It's a mental block, mainly....but it drives me nuts! I need a wrap on whatever cue I get.

Thanks, though.....at the very least, you reminded me about that little detail on my wish list.

Kind regards,

Mark

I would look at the lower end used schons on ebay. The Schuler legacy cues seem to be a bargin too.

If a wrap is the only issue, the wrap is available for $60 extra.

I hope you find something you like. I've seen Schons sell on eBay in your price range, if you want to go that route.

Good luck.

I would KILL to get my hands on a Schon in that price range....but most seem to float around 400 for the entry level USED stuff......gonna be hard pressed to find a decent one for 350.

Thanks for the suggestion, though....I'll keep my eyes peeled for 'em anyway!

Think your story needs to be told with DETAILS...

U R without ANY CUES.

Think Lucasi Sneaky Pete, or a Canadian Dufferin Sneaky Pete. Great Value for the $$.

Also see INDYQ’s Website as he was doing some Close out of Phoenix Cues a while back, and they are nice for the $$

I'd go to Shootersbilliards.com, and look at their closeout specials...

I got my McDermott for $204 (originally $350) and added an I2 shaft for $162.50. The cue was 8 yrs old, brand new. The I2 came directly from McDermott. I sent the cue into McDermott to get the I2 filled to it (6 wk back order at the time). They cleaned and retipped the original shaft and rewrapped the butt because I thought I saw a couple little gaps in it. McDermott has great customer service and I would buy another on if I'm ever in the market again.

Incidently, when I purchased the cue they had a couple specials running, and I got a $140 Cuetec Python (now my break stick)and a 2x2 hard case. so 2 cues an after market shaft and a case ran me about $366.50. They covered the shipping.hey also had alot more than just McDermotts on the close out page, some really nice stuff there worth looking at.

Hope it helps

Keep 'em coming!!! :)

BUMP BUMP BUMP!!!

Mornin' all,

I've gotten some really interesting sales offers....and have a few that I'm gonna explore even further....but PLEASE keep 'em coming.

I'll be making a decision THIS WEEKEND...

Thanks to all who have responded thusfar. GOOD group of folks we got around here. Very nice, very generous, and a pleasure to deal with each one of 'em.

Be good, and enjoy your Friday!

There is a "like new" Scott Sherbine SP with wrap and two shafts on ebay now. Nice cocobolo and great value IMO. Could go for $250 ish.. A cue preference is so subjective. Several nice cues offered made in this thread.

Enjoy the new baby 8Ball!

coker cue

i've got a nice plain jane stained birds eye with two shafts that i'm going to be moving, it is used, not in bad condition though, will have two net tips after today or tomorrow. I am thinking about 275.00 shipped.

Gotta be a Schon...

Hi all,

I've come to realize that there are a couple/few folks out there with Schon cues that meet or come close to my needs.

After filtering through some of the other offers on the table.......I've decided I'd like to shoot for a Schon cue (no pun intended) :).

ANYBODY THAT'S GOT A NICE SCHON CUE THAT THEY COULD LET GO OF, PLEASE DROP ME A PM.

Two shafts is a bonus..but not required. All I ask for is that the cue is STRAIGHT and SOUND.

Thanks a ton, Ya'll.
