WTB: quality double black joint phenolic

Trust me, I've had my share of shabby pheno.
To be quite honest (and I always try to be), I actually prefer to see a little weave in my linen-pheno.
If the client is adament that he wants pure black, that's easily remedied before the finish is applied.
My talking point is that the visible weave is the identifier of a stronger mtrl.
Implex, PVC, ABS and Bakelite all finish pure black but are substantially weaker than phenolic.
Besides, I like the way it looks.

Two contrasting DB Pheno.
Old stuff . Even the slight grayish one will do.
ps:
Neither one is my. A Krick and a Judd. I used to own them.

Disregard this post...

On second thought, I don't have the time this week to play with the 'know-it-alls' and 'AZ Experts'.

Does this mean that you DON'T want to be the supplier for our group-buy ???
Even though I have never made a purchase from you, one of our fellow tradesmen speaks highly of your mtrl.
On that basis I was about to call and place an order for 100 ft. Alas, you're running true to form.
I'm just wondering how many 100s of ft our group-buy would have come to. Oh well, NEXT.

LOL, KJ

The phenolic in that second picture is blacker than any phenolic i've seen, almost looks like plastic.

That's the real old double black.
You can cry now.
They were so common then , Judd used to use them for handles in some cues.
I should have never sold that cue.

Have purchased the 12' of tube I was looking for. Did not find a source for new good tube but have found some 1" rod. If you are interested please email me at bob@bdcuesandcomix.com for details.

Norplex, who was the only company to make the double black linen tube (tube made with black resin and black linen cloth), stopped making it quite a while back.

They even dropped an order I had in place at the time, and it was pretty large. The reasoning I was given was that their supplier of the black linen cloth raised the price and MOQ on that material to the point where Norplex was no longer going to buy it. Therefore the only product they used that cloth in was then dropped.

Norplex does still sell their standard black phenolic tube. It's pretty much the same stuff, but the linen isn't black, so the weave shows.
