WTB: Tubes for case building.

Just go to any HD or Lowes and tell them you need 3/4" and 1-1/4" thin wall sprinkler pipe. It comes in 10' lengths and they have tons of it. The gray electrical pipe is schedule 40 and weighs way to much to use in a cue case. Neither Jay, Dennis or I have ever used the gray electrical pipe. Some Swift cases did use 1" for the shaft tubes which is too big IMO.

Thank you!

pvc

I've found to adjust for the spacing you want between the pvc and your cue just use thicker or thinner material. I use a slightly heavier felt material for the 1 1/4" butt tube and thinner material for the 3/4" shaft tubes.

to go along with idea of finding tubes, what you guys using as a "shell" for lack of a better term to bind the tubes together. For example, the instrokes are tubed, then wrapped in another big tube. where on earth are you finding this elipticel tubing. I've tride the major people in the state of oklahoma, but to no avail.

Drew,

There have been many discussions on here about how to build a cue case. I don't have the link handy but I did post a diagram in one of them which discusses the various ways to wrap leather around the interior.

The Instroke case is made of tubes bound together and the exterior is then made of leather bonded to treated cardboard. The exterior is then closed as a loop with a row of rivets.

I wholeheartedly recommend to all aspiring case makers to start buying and inspecting as many cases as they can. There are a lot of little things you will need to pay attention to in order to build a good case.

Although I haven't read it I understand that Al Stohlman's book, the Art of Case Making is a very helpful guide. At least one famous case maker among us has said that he started with that book.

It very nice that you fella's are sharing info. I dont wish to be a aspiring case maker. Just wanna make a simple but pretty case just for bulk storage in the safe.
I just cant justify a $1000 case for storage.
