WTT Blue Grass for Sugartree

Tough Trade Proposition

It is a tough trade proposition, talk to newtoyouqs, they might work something out, however I would venture to say you would be either trading down (to a non pointed cue) or youd need to pony up some $$

Nice Harris, I would say that Richards cues play about 60% as good as one of Eric's, my opinion is subjective but that is what it is.

The above statement makes me feel like I am FAR out of touch with the custom cue scene. Didn't Bluegrass stop taking orders recently? Meaning they are going up in value, plus they already have a big following. I know how much everyone loves Sugartree's but I haven't gotten to play with one yet. I guess I may be underestimated the value of a Sugartree.

Would love to hear some of the non biased collectors explain why a low end Sugartree is worth more than this BG.

I talked to Richard Harris about a week ago, as we happen to frequent the same pool hall but this was the first time I had met him in person. I had seen a few his cues floating around the pool hall with people who had gotten cues from him in the past, and they looked to be really nice cues. Shot some one pocket with a guy that had a Bluegrass SP and I praised his cue, as he praised my Frey cue.

I had inquired with the owner of the pool hall, about putting in a order for a Bluegrass cue... so when Richard Harris happened to be shooting pool while I was present, he pointed him out to me and I introduced myself to Mr. Harris. To cut a long story short, I commented on how I liked his cues and asked what the waiting time on a cue would be. He said he doesn't even take orders anymore, because he can't keep up with them. He just has few dealers that he sells through, and he makes cues and distributes them through these dealers.

FWIW, Richard Harris is a really nice man, he had a nice It's George case, and he took the time out of his 9 ball game to chit chat about his case, and his cues with me.

I can't speak to the hit of his cues... as I never asked to shoot with someones, as I would be nervous if a stranger asked to shoot with my playing cue.

It is my understanding that New2You's pricing on the Sugartrees are very much in line with that which Eric is asking himself. Additionally, they are also dealers for both Sugartree and BlueGrass cues. Contact Jamie 'Worminator'...a he will be taking deliver of a small batch of SugarTrees very shortly for SBE in VF. The cues available can be seen in this thread:

Thanks for the heads up. Trade was not an option on this one otherwise I would have likely snatched it up.

Your best option might be to sell this cue outright, then keep the cash on hand to snatch up the next one that comes on the board. Very nice one on ebay right now.

Supply and Demand

I am not a big collector, but I am unbiased. There are far more Bluegrass cues around than Sugartree. Richard stopped taking orders in January 2005. There are a lot of his cues around, and they command very good prices, aroung $1K for a PJ. Eric just hasn't made as many cues yet, and people love them so they are even harder to find.

I have owned both and each of them are fine hitting cues.
