i have four custom knives made by tommy johnson of pasadena texas.. knives were made in the early 80s..tommy was a local knife maker who made custom knives up until his death in late 80s or early 90s...he was friends with my dad and was showing my dad how to make knives..all the sheaths were made by my dad..they are crude but work just fine...knife1...antler handle total of 9 1/2in, blade 4 1/2 in..antle has shrunk of time and wood insert has a crack in it but doesnt effect anything ..knife2....pearlized hand 8in total, blade 3 3/4in knife is in great shape...knife3 greenish color wood handle bowie 10 1/2 total, blade 5 3/4in knife is in great shape...knife 4 utility knife dont know what handle is made of..8 1/4 total length, blade 4 3/4 in....all knifes have never been used just stored in cedar box...all knives have heavy brass work on them... i am looking for a custom cue case...let me know what you have...thanks mickey carroll pics coming in a few minutes....

knives...

no offers? someone around here has to hunt or collect knives

tj knives

I knew tommy well. He died in the mid 90's he had moved up to Bronson Texas. I offered to buy all of his shop equipment shortly after he died and the family would not sell it. Well last year after it stayed in a falling down rotten building they called me and I bought what was left after people had stolen some of it. He was a good guy. Good luck with the trade or sell of the knives.

you might try pming AZ member Daniel. I know that he collects custom knives.

I like knives, but know nothing about custom knives. What is the value of these?

value?

i am not really sure what they are worth...in the 80s my dad paid somewhere around 50 dollars each for them...but that was 20 plus years ago....his work was nice but not the good enough to command high dollar prices back then....a nice custom made knife now would run you anywhere from 100 and up depending on maker and quality....i havent seen any for sale since the earlys 90s....last one i saw was like the bowie knife and he was asking 150... you wont see alot of these because i dont think he made alot....maybe someone on here might know more about the value of them i am just looking for a nice custom case in trade for the lot....i no longer collect knives and my hobby is know like most of us CASES AND CUES....thanks for the inquiry....mickey carroll

value..

i just got a pm about value of these knives....i was told buy a knife maker that these knives values are between 75 and 100 dollars each....i asked him to reply on here...i am only trying to trade these for a fair market value...i am looking to trade for a moderate custom case to put a few new cues that are coming in.....please hit me up if you have something to trade or any questions... thanks mickey carroll

i don't have any cases to offer or i would ... i can tell you this much though judging from those photos ... my step-father makes knifes that are along the same lines as those and normally gets 150 to 200 a peice for them and he ends up having people waiting for him to get one finished ...

i do not know the person that made those knifes but from the photo's i can tell he loved his work.

thanks for some input....
