It was $90.
That is REDICULOUS.
Come on, it's just a sponge with two directions of material, one negatively charged (the felt positively charged) with a handle that lets it fit under the bumpers etc.
$90 is just way too much.
It works like a "Swifter quicker picker upper" type deal, chalk sticks to it. However a swifter is like $20 and its for FLOORS, and is huge, the simmonis tool is tiny and costs 4x as much.

I could understand $40 which would still be way more then its worth, but I could understand since its a speciality item and its unique they could get $40 for it.. but $90 is just way too much.

I agree 90$ is ridiculous. I would 40$ though. I will stick to vacuming and brushing.

Bigjohn, when I was reading about it in on the Simonis site it talks about using a fast motion that makes it work. What's the story on that? I mean are you working up a sweat with the thing or what?

I have never tried chalk off. I used to use an apholstery cleaner from walmart. Dont remember the name, might have been blue coral or something like that. It worked pretty well. I just bought another table over the weekend so I will have to decide what I will use on this one.
No sweat. It's an easy back and forth motion with no pressure and then at the end after you've finished cleaning you run it from end to end in parallel lines and it gives it a clean smooth look. It works. I like it.
I understand you still have to vacuum from time to time, but it sure sounds a lot more convenient than vacuuming every few days.

In order to best preserve its qualities, a billiard cloth deserves efficient cleaning. It is for this purpose that we devised and developed a totally innovative accessory: the Simonis X-1.

The Simonis X-1 works by static electricity and by capillarity. It is therefore a very flexible and rapid back and forth movement and not the exaggerated pressure which would be needed for the optimal effectiveness of a brush.
After having cleaned the whole table, including the horizontal part of the cushions, use the Simonis X-1 to delicately brush the playing surface in parallel lines in order to give the cloth its well-kept appearance.
The Simonis X-1 possesses a high absorption capacity and can easily retain the dust of half a chalk in its textile structure. Once the Simonis X-1 no longer seems to retain the chalk, all one has to do is release the dust absorbed by the high-tech structure to restore its initial effectiveness.

* either vacuum the textile structure
* or beat/slap the structure with your hand.

Please note however that the textile surface will retain the colour of the chalk, even after having been emptied. This colouration is normal and in no way alters the effectiveness of the Simonis X-1.
The Simonis X-1 can absorb any sort of fine dust provided that it can be integrated into the high-tech structure of the X-1.

Post above shows what he means by at the end you go in lines to make it look good. What it does is make the pool table fibers all in one direction, giving the cloth a clean undisturbed look.
Hopefully you guys understand what it is and all about it now.
Nice design but personally unless you own a Pool Room / Hall it's way way overpriced. I rather buy like 5 years worth of chalk-off. It never made spots on my table but I've always used it properly (perfectly).
I might have to pick me up one of these things. 
I used Chalk Off for a while and it spotted my table as well. I may have to buy one of these too. Xmas present to me. What could be better?
i used chalkoff for about 6 months and after awhile i noticed a serious slowness of my cloth... so i went to vacuming and using a slightly damp cloth...
this looks to be a good alternative to that, so i think i will give it a try. If i am willing and able to spend several thousands of dollars on cues i can afford an 80 dollar cloth cleaner that works without distroying my felt. plus its made by the same people who produce my cloth. JMHO - Sean
