Who's the better 9ball player, in both tournaments and for the cash? I heard Yang is the only player feared by the Filipinos, and that him and Orcullo don't spot each other. Then again, Orcullo is known as the best money player in the world.

I think you can throw Alex into the middle of this as well.

The Filipinos are really amazing when they play for money. All of them play liek world champions in money games.

But I think Yang would have an edge on a tight pocket slow table, if they both bet their own money.

I think it would be the opposite....Dennis hits the middle of the pocket on every shot, and he grew up playing on slow tables. Yang is used to fast and brand new Simonis from all the tournaments he plays in most likely. I think a long race in 9ball between them on any type of conditions is a toss-up.

In any type of long match, Orcullo wins 9/10 times.

Ok well if they match up then i guess you will be glad to offer me 5-1 on Yang so keep in touch!

Yang is awesome but when evaluating players today you really have to read between the lines and look beyond their records.

Short tv matches make weaker players look alot better than they really are.

Again, Yang is amazing, but right now Denis is a few levels above.

I dont know about a "few levels"..

Dennis Ocollo

Has Yang proven himself against the top player in the world?

Dennis Ocollo has a history of beating the very best for the BIG dollars. Efren and Busty won't play him and Alex gave up playing Dennis before Efren and Busty.

Last i read in Jay's updates from the phillipines yang beat alcano and busta. Ive heard he took bustas $ a few years ago as well. But i also read that he stays away from dennis. But still dont know about a "few levels" above yang. jay's thread also talks about the alex and dennis battles during the wpc.

I gotta go Orcullo. I think he is one of the top 2 players in the world right now (Efren being the other).

I would say that Dennis, Alex and Yang are the three top money players
(9-Ball or Ten Ball) going today. Busty, Johnny and a couple of others are just behind them.

Alex and Dennis may be top dogs right at the moment, but this is subject to change. Yang seems relentless in his pursuit of being considered the best player on Earth.

Of course, at One Pocket, Efren continues to be THE MAN. And to purists like me, that means a lot. It is the toughest game.

As far as Yang being "levels" below anyone, I must disagree. It's more like a millimeter.

All pinoy players are greta money players, they are animals at the table when they can smell money. I have lots of respect for their game.

However, I like Yang's chances, if they both play with their own money. Yang's home table has super small pockets, and the tables conditions in Taiwan is very slow. Yang has one of the most powerful stroke and best potting power I have seen, he is deadly on those slow tables with super tight pockets.

I agree Orcullo is awesome at these kind of equipment, but I want to emphasis the extra pressure of betting with their own money, which I believe would make a big difference and bring out the best out of the player with the strongest mental game when everything is on the line.

From what I understand, and correct me if I am wrong, that most pinoy players bet with their managers' money. The mentality of betting with a backer's money is very different than with one's own money. I think that would give Yang an edge.

Just my .02 cents.

jay, you feel Efren is no longer a top 5 money player?

IMO he absolutely smokes Johnny at any game for the cheese.

I think in the phillipines alcano and dennis has surpassed him in 9-10 ball.. i even heard alcano is the best in rotation..

Jay was in the phillipines and he mentioned archer didnt get into any action.. and Archer gambles.

Read my post again. Efren IS the top dog in One Pocket, including cash games. At 9-Ball, he may not (any longer) be in the top five in the Philipines, let alone the world. Sorry to bust your balloon.
