When I watch basketball, it seems that there is an obvious foul every minute. And as for football, you must watch a different game than I do.

the rules as far as i know them you have to be able to see a foul to call it and have that count.
how would you like the ref. to call a foul on you by saying you i did not see it but you couldnt have had a foot on the floor stretching that much to make that shot.

Yes, this is exactly how the rules should be enforced. It's not rocket science (pun intended).
Maybe he was , maybe he wasn't. Anyway, games like football and basketball would go broke if every wrong decision went to court.
Referees use judgement but they are not judges. They are referees, hence the title referee.

I think that instant replay might’ve been helpful. What wasn’t helpful was the Editorial in the Billiards Digest this month. Essentially it gave Yapp a pass at least in inferring he didn’t know if the hit was clean. Accomplished players know their hits both good and bad. The ref was not prepared to handle this call meaning she was IMO not aware of the physics concerning this shot. Thus the outcome. If Yapp wasn’t aware of the physics I would be surprised.
