You guessed it. Another"How would you play this?"

I dont see anything great to do here, so I would like to leave distance.... Hit the 1 very thin with a little low and a fair bit of right hand spin to come down 3 rails to the other end. If you get lucky, you get a hook in there too. Otherwise, you have seperated the balls, and your opponent might miss if he tries it, or really, should try to return the safe.

Although the balls were on the opposite side of the table, this is, essentially, the position that Darryl Peach faced in the very late stages of the WPC final. The commentators predicted Peach would play the relatively passive, but easily executed, safety to run the cue ball up to the two ball for a snooker. Peach surprised them by playing two rails off the right edge of the one and sending the cue ball under the traffic on the bottom rail. Great decision and great shot by Darryl, one of the many superb safety shots he played in winning the title.

Correct sjm. I changed the layout of the table in order to confuse those who watched the finals. Didn't seem to work to well.

I thought this was a very creative shot by Daryl and was unexpected by the commentators. The play was executed with precision as he used the 2 ball to stun the speed of the one in order to give him distance.

Rivercity picked up on the distance factor also and hitting into the 2 ball. A shot that I think a lot of players forget about. Playing a carom to decrease the speed of the object ball or using the carom to force the object ball into another postion on the table.

I didn't really have a right or wrong answer for this diagram. Just wanted to show Daryl's response to his situation. Steev also gave a good solution to this layout.

Here is a link to Daryl's play on the shot. Watch the whole video if you want. There is multiple safeties place throughout this match 28. The shot is in the 2nd half of the 28th rack. 28-B. Here is the links to all the final matches.
