You know what I hate?

That their careers keep them too busy to spend the 1000's of hours that it takes to become a good pool player?
And there is part of the answer... but the real answer is you either have it or you don't... and the it is the natural talent and the desire and the commitment to excell.

cd (caught twixt and tween of being a player and being a banger after 28+ years of an engineering career)

But I'll tell you what... engineers are taught in school to be problem solvers... and analyzers... these are traits/skills that can help elevate one's game if they have the inclination and the desire to excell at pool.

I'm sure you're right, but being a world champion is a whole other realm of player from what I was talking about.

I only meant to point out that his brother probably sucks at pool more because he's hardly played than simply because he's an "enginerd" (as he put it). I'm sure there are pro players who could have been engineers, and vice versa.

OMG, you guys aren't going to believe what I ran into AGAIN while I was out of town this weekend!
Another guy whose father AND grandfather were "poolsharks" that ran all over the country and BOTH of them played and BEAT Minnesota Fats everytime they played.....
The prodigy of this great heritage? The pride of Lake and Mendocino county poolplayers, who prides himself on playing for real money and doesn't waste anyones time playing for drinks or chump change.......
Broke down his stick (not a cue) and left after losing the rather exhorbant amount of .....(drumroll)........ $10 bucks. Over 2 games. (His offer upon arrival =$5 a game)

Wait around for a midnight game with this guy, who's jumping at the chance to play some, and get this outcome.....
That's right up there with post #18 for me-
