FYI, I just posted a new video that challenges you to "Make the Call" for five questionable pro tournament match shots. For each shot, you need to decide if it was a good hit or a foul. I provide the answers and do shots re-creations to explain the correct calls. Check it out:

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Was Filler trying to pocket the 2?

I don't think that was possible. I think he was just trying to get a good hit, sending several balls around the table in the hope that something good happened. And it did ... except for the call.

I see. So you think he couldn't hit the 2 without simultaneously hitting the 9, which is why he couldn't pocket the 2?

It's confusing to me because it appears that, since the 2 hit a diamond above the corner pocket, he could have hit the 2 more fully, in which case he could have pocketed the 2.

The problem was the pink 4. It prevented him from hitting the 2 full enough.

I got number 5 wrong. However I still feel like a I champ considering the change in tune over the Oi shot. ;)

Ah, that explains it. Given the interfering ball, I would have called the hit good.

Do you think this is a foul or no by a 13-year-old Filler?

4 out of 5 is still much better than most pool players (and some refs) would get.

I still think it was a double hit based on the CB reaction, but the evidence from the limited overhead view is not conclusive enough to call a foul. Regardless, good job helping to soften my opinion. 👍

You didn't ask me but yes, it's a foul
I think it is one of those situations where the other player (Jungo) didn't want to seem to be picking on a kid, and so didn't call it or at least didn't press the matter. I think it was a foul.

#5 at regular speed looks like a foul to my eyes, though in slow motion it does look different. I probably would have made the same call as the ref.

I also thought it might have been a foul the first time I saw it, but I probably would not have called a foul since there is no clear evidence of a foul.

For the SVB shot, if the CB and OB were frozen would that change things at all?

Yes. Totally. But they were not. If they were, he probably wouldn't have elevated like he did.

I probably should have mentioned in the video that the balls were not frozen.

You are allowed to hit into a frozen CB, and it results in a clean hit per the info and demos here:
