Your Biggest Pool Room Distraction?

I'm sure the ladies can agree with me on mine.

You're practising and some guy wanders over and says any one or combination of the following:

Do you want someone to play with? (Practising alone.)
Why are you shooting by yourself?
You play good for a girl.
Do you give lessons?
Do you want some advice?
What are you listening to? (I wear an mp3.)
What game are you playing? (When I'm playing straight pool.)
How do you play that?
Are you a professional?
You must be a pool shark.
Can I get you something to drink?
So can I have your phone number?
Do you have a boyfriend?
You look like that ORIENTAL woman on Espn. (Apparently all Asian female pool players look like 'The Black Widow'.)
Why are you barefoot?
You have cute feet. (Creeeepy.)
Is that a Meucci? (I have a Jacoby.)

I could go on but you get the picture. We can be alone. We can be playing or practising with someone else. It doesn't matter. Politely telling them that you don't want to be bothered because you're there to shoot pool doesn't work because they continue to stand there like some teenager at a dance where the boys are on one side and the girls are on the other. If you tell them to just please leave so you can go back to shooting, you're a b*tch. Back when I shot at Players here in Columbus, my practise partner finally had to start telling these guys that he was my dad and to leave me alone. And by the way, it's never the serious players who bother us; it's always some banger.

Just tell them that you like women.

If you play in a commercial poolhall rather then at home or in a private club, some distractions are to be expected. I can withstand loud music, even a bad one, but people generated noise...uhhh, no, that's the worst...
At my previous poolhall I hated poker players...they were so loud and obnoxious...I fuknn hated them...
I also hate when they let football games on full volume...morons gather around a TV screen end they start screaming even if there is a 0.1% chance of their player scoring a goal. At first I thought they were genuine football fans, but later I realized they were just sport betting morons.

They have no intention to play, cant shoot and are only in there skanking after some overly tattooed equally Neanderthal looking specimen that just escaped from the zoo.

My new f*cking sig!

I'll tell you the way i handle it. It's just apart of the game.

Much the same way that a crowd in football or basketball tries to get the opposing team unnerved. It's all apart of sport, gotta love it.

I have the attention span like that of a young child anyway so not much distracts me. Occasionally an action pool match up that I am in will distract my concentration and focus on the scantily clad ladies.

My biggest was Playing doubles 8 ball with a couple buddies and having the weaker shot of the two turn to his partner and on every freakin shot go "How should I shoot this?" dont know why but it drives me crazy next time ill just let his partner shoot everything.

That VOICE

You know, the one that when he whispers you can still hear him from 50 feet away.

At the ball park, he can speak at the Center fielder from behind home plate and the center fielder can hear every word....

It doesn't matter if he whispers... you've now got it in your head, he's here. You don't know when he'll talk or snort a laugh, but you know it is looming and when he does, the sounds will linger for 20-30 minutes. His voice carries
all over the room.

It is not the voice it self, but the anticipation... it drives me stupid... I might as well be taking out the trash or cleaning bathroom...

A serious response you want?;) Whistling has always been murder one me, that, and if someone brings in an infant.

Well, ya hit a nerve here ... I didn't read the entire thread, so if others have mentioned this, I'll just say I'm seconding the thought. (perhaps with some added passion)

LOUD OBNOXIOUS MUSIC. It bothers me to the point I don't even frequent pool rooms anymore.

As a prior room owner I think its disgusting, and when I see a child with his parents trying to have a good time playing, (read the future of the sport) and the music is MFing this and COCKs@#$ing that, and screeching other obscenities I think it is stomach turning.

AND, to all you room owners who allow this to go in in your rooms, you're no better than the music, and whether you know it or not it reflects on your character.

HOWS THAT? Yep, it bothers me. Shame, shame, shame.

Dirty tables and balls bother me. Screaming R&R and rap/hip-hop music bother me. Either will quickly bring me to the point of going home to play pool...... or just staying home, and unfortunately that's what almost always happens. I think about going out amongst them but realize that it's NOT fun with filthy tables and that crap coming from the speakers.
