Your Cue Stick History?

First cue: Spalding, traded for a pull out cassette deck,

then on to a meuci, then an Earl Strickland Cuetech, played with a schon and fell in love

with it, and bought one immediately. Purchased a Brunswick made by Joss, then a Dale

Perry (gift) back to a schon and now I also have a Bob Owen custom...which with my

schon is my players.

Players - sent to my great Nephew last fall.
Shurtz 2005

Figured I'd support the local economy since both Shurtz and Cash cues are here in Wichita.

Went through about 5 70's Joss cues, moved on to Scruggs for a lot of years, Szamboti for a year, then Bob Frey for quite a few years. Mike Lambros talked me into one of his cues next, that was a short fling, back to Bob Frey where I remain to this day. Still own a couple of the Scruggs & they get played now & then but nothing has ever replaced the Frey for long.

Runde 15 "sneaky" padauk (*)

(*) indicates I still have it.

Never really made the list, more than I would have guessed and a lot of Schons but some of those happened in pretty quick succession as I just bounced around a little.

Only real regret is letting go of that Runde 14 cue....that was a nice one (like all Rundes) that I wouldn't mind having back but couldn't really afford to keep it and pay for the cue right below it which I custom ordered and is far and away my favorite cue.

The Viking is still around because nobody wants to buy it and never hurts to have a beater around. The Olney was a nice cue but now has a creak in the a-joint unfortunately, still plays nice though. The Schon STL 9 would be gone but for a roll in the forearm. Still plays nice and I'll probably list it cheap someday noting the roll as it's a great player!

My core cue set is my two Rundes, the Jacoby, and the Gilbert jump/break. Love all four of those cues!

My first cue was a custom made by small volume craftsman. Plain Jane of some dark wood, oil finish, brass joint, and (he claimed) mammoth ivory ferrule.

Thank you kindly.

I started playing in 2011, still have all of my cues and are listed in order of acquisition.

1979 - Meucci
1984 - Schon R-14
1987 - Szamboti (Burned up in a car fire :sorry:)
1987 - Kersenbrock/SW (From John Wright. Found out later from Laurie Franklin it was prabably a South West)
1988 - Schon R-14 (Talked into selling the Kers/SW 8 months after I got her  and went back to the Schon)
1989 - South West (found another for $100! :grin-square:)
1989 - Schon R-14 (Dickie Weaver talked me out of the SW :embarrassed2:.. I went back to the Schon..again)
1993 - Tascarella
1995 - Cognoscenti
1996 - Tascarella/Schon R14 (Retired the Cog. It was just too fancy to play with)
1999 - Tascarella (different than the first)

2014- 2016 - Cognoscenti or Josey (Switch between both. The Cog is a new player Joe made for me)

1) Grandfather won a bar fight after getting caught taking a cue sometime in the early 1970's, that cue was passed down to my father then me, which i've shot with since 1988, migrating it to breaking duties in 2012. Meucci/Huebler H-4.

2) Bought a Ariel Carmeli custom cue during APA nationals in Vegas in 2012 as my primary shooting cue.

Palmer

Dad got me a third catalog Palmer as my first cue when I was about Nine. I have a picture of me playing with it at about 12 years old at Capitol Billiards in Dover, DE.
I think it's a 1993 but I could be mistaken. Nylon wrap got replaced last year. Ferrule has been replaced several times. Tips come and go. But that cue and I have run out from places and in so many states.....
It's in my case in the car.....gotta go play!

In between, the best production cues besides that one I ever hit with:
Poison - Had two, sold them both when I was in a slump. Both Bolts, both hit great!
Nick Varner - Had two, first one got ruined by a guy repairing a shaft ding sold the second
Older Dufferin
Older Players -

1. Eliminator - Stolen
2. Viking - Car was stolen... cue was in the trunk
3. Viking - Gave away
4. Hurricane by Whitey Spach - Sold
5. Whitey Spach custom jump cue - Sold
6. Pechauer - Sold
7. Al Romero SP - Sold
